“So the reason for the 4 stars is because of how long I had to wait for 10 pieces of cornbread I ordered to go. I waited almost an hour for it. I've eaten here before and ordered a catfish dinner, with mashed potatoes, black-eye peas and cornbread. The cornbread and black-eye peas has me hooked! They were so good! Wasn't a fan of the catfish as I was expecting fillet type fried catfish and not chicken tender type fried catfish. They were really small. The mashed potatoes were also bland to the taste and I was not told they come with white gravy. I do not eat white gravy on my mashed potatoes, only brown and it was quickly replaced. Except for these, overall the rest of the food was really good. The waitress was excellent and was very attentive to me. She even complimented my hair and outfit and this really made my day. I didn't get her name and I wish I had done so. She was really sweet. Would highly recommend eating at this place! I'd call ahead for the cornbread if just ordering cornbread, though 😅 😅!”

“We love the tacos here. They have a smoker out back that they make some of the meat in. We are locals and you will not find a healthier or more delicious taco in the area. The service is usually very quick even when they are busy. They have plenty of tables to use to enjoy your meal. Everyone we have taken here enjoys the food too. “I've visited Comal Crawfish a few times now, and while the food is always outstanding, I have consistently faced one issue: the wait time for the food to arrive. The restaurant is usually quite busy, so I understand a longer wait time, but it can be frustrating. Our waitress this time, wears a golden necklace maybe of her name, wasn't very welcoming and seemed to have a frown on her face throughout our interaction. Though the first unwelcoming gestures had concreted in my mind I want to point out that she did check up on us several times during our meal. The ambiance of the place is laid back and simple—not something you'd describe as "awesome." The restrooms are okay but could use more frequent cleaning. Despite these drawbacks, the food at Comal is fantastic. We've consistently ordered the crawfish and snow crab, and it has been delicious every time. They offer both outdoor and indoor seating, which is nice. I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars solely because the food is worth coming back for. If they could improve on the wait times and the service, it would be an even better experience.”

“We were camping at Lake Towakani and it was too cold to cook at camp. One of the things we like to do while visiting the state parks is find local restaurants and support them. We are glad we did. 4 breakfasts and a small pecan pie, and slice of berry crumble pie was $69. Which seemed reasonable. Our server was spot on with the coffee and drink refills. Our food did take a little bit to come out but we were not in a rush and it was good to get out of the cold. Would visit again if we were in the area!”

They are often very busy but do a good job of keeping up with the volume and the line always goes pretty quickly. We usually don’t have any issues with our orders. We recently ordered (2) cold brews that they made a mistake on, they added sweetener to them by accident. We went back inside and they replaced them quickly without any issue.
