“It was another fuel stop, driving back to Houston from Copper Mountain, when I noticed this food truck serving Indian food. I figured I’d give it a shot, being 15 hours into the drive. Well, it was an awesome decision. The chicken curry was fantastic. It may not be until next year that I drive through Rhome, TX again, but I’ll make it a point of stopping here to eat again. Even the naan was really good.”

“Spent a Saturday here fishing. It has lovely views. The staff is friendly and responsive. We ate at the restaurant before leaving for the day. We ordered a supreme pizza, and it was really good with generous toppings and a delicious crust. We would definitely go back and rent a cabin for a weekend. They are pet friendly. The area has steep hills, so be prepared to hike up and down steep stairs or hillsides.”

I appreciate him and his team. The last 3 days we have been by, under 5 minutes and we were on our way. Another thing is it is always clean on the outside and inside. “Great hole in the wall place that seems to take you a step back in time. The quaint grocery store which serves up food is a gem and worth the try. We had burgers house fries and onion rings. All was great. The burgers were a thick patty. Fries were house cut home fries. Onion rings were crispy. Also had a sampling of the pinto beans and a generous serving of apple cobbler. Apple cobbler had just the right amount of cinnamon. Everything was great tasting. The establishment is small with gravel parking with a step up into the restaurant so access is not very wheelchair friendly. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel right at home. The limited offerings on Friday and Saturday night come with live music.”

“It’s been years since I’ve ate inside at Chicken E. (Kids will do that) I can’t express how patient, kind, and helpful the staff was today. From great customer service, to being personable with my family. My kids being toddlers wanted an egg from the machine they have that was not plugged in, the staff went above and beyond to stop and plug in the machine for them. And then my crazy kids wanted sweets from the other quarter machine, momma didn’t have coins but another staff member offered them some coins for candy. Talk about great human beings!!!!! They sent us on our way with cookies, not to mention an extra cookie for our little at home!!! Great service, great people. Will definitely be back again.”

“This place has new owners and they are turning it around. Clean safe place to park with smooth parking lot. Sheriff keeps a close eye on the trucks at night to make sure we are safe. Great staff and very friendly. You have to try the restaurant. everything is made from scratch, even the rolls. The guy that runs it takes great pride in his food. Saturday mornings all you can eat breakfast buffet. the breakfast burritos are HUGE. They currently don't have DEF at the pumps but he is working on it. Texan owned and Texan ran. This is the idea place to stage the night before running into the DFW area. 35 year trucker here and as mom and pop goes, it didn't get much better for country stores.”
