“ra Shai Ma-Sei! Asahi is a great Japanese restaurant located in the Palatine area. We ordered: Chicken katsu -- Breaded chicken breast, deep fried and served with tonkatsu sauce. Really good portions Rainbow roll -- California, 5 pieces of fresh fish, which looked to be salmon, tuna, white tuna, shrimp, and yellow tail Spider roll -- Whole soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado, sweet sauce. These always come out thicker, and it was delicious! They also have bento boxes to check out, which was a hard choice to not get. Service was great! Dining area is somewhat tiny... a few booths, a couple of tables, and few seats at the sushi bar, by the chefs. Overall, great food and experience!”

“Today, everything was on point. The appetizer plate was made fresh. The chicken was juicy and seasoned great. (Last time is was not great. Dry and felt reheated) The fried objects were hot and crispy. The spring roll was soft and chewy. Fresh! The pho was amazing too. Soup was flavorful without being too salty. Veggies for the pho were also so fresh! Basil and sprouts looked so good! 4 stars for not always being as amazing as it was today. Today was fantastic. Really hit the spot with the rainy day.”

“Good food and great atmosphere. For around here it's hard to find a good barbecue place but this is definitely a good spot. Everything is ala carte. And the brisket before, it was great. Mac and cheese is very good. The ribs were very good although the way they were cut up I kept having to spit pieces of cartilage out. The beans were very good. Overall I will stop and eat anytime I'm passing by. They always have interesting-looking specials. I love the atmosphere, and the rock and roll/heavy metal that is playing while I'm eating. Definitely my kind of place!!!”

“Decided to come here last minute on a date night. We walked in and were seated immediately by a very kind man. He promptly brought us refreshments. After ordering, our food came within ten minutes and was delicious. The presentation of our food was also very well done. The Thai Iced Tea was very good and it’s a drink I always look forward to when getting Thai food. The overall atmosphere was really nice. The restaurant was clean, and quiet which I appreciate. The environment was also very intimate. Overall we had a dinner experience that we will talk about and reminisce on. In my opinion, the restaurant was too empty for a Friday night. With great service and delicious food this place deserves more recognition.”

“Me and my wife dined in on 4/23/2023. We ordered the bangus sisig, lechon kawali. Both very crispy and flavorful. The halo-halo and mango pie were both very good desserts to top off our meal. It was nice to see a good inflow of patrons. Despite being short-staffed, our food was prepared at a very reasonable time. The restaurant had an "Assistance Needed" sign on their door, and I think they only had 1 chef and 1 server at the time, so me and my wife expected to wait a little longer for our food. No problem at all though. Make conversation, listen to music. That is part of the dining experience! We still received our food in about 30~ mins. There was a party of four that arrived not too long after us which included an older gentlemen, his adult son and two others. Older gentlemen was very rude to the establishment in my opinion. And his adult son was no help. They lied to the owner and said they waited "one hour" for their food (when it had only been about 30~ mins or so) and were very demanding. Despite their behavior, the owner acted very swiftly and gracefully to ensure patrons were satisfied. And to be fair, it was a lot of food for 1 chef to cook. Can't please everyone I guess. All in all, good food and friendly staff. Will visit again for sure.”

“What a fantastic place. It was such a surprise finding this gem. We stopped by with my son to get some food and the place blew our minds. It is very original and fun. There are so many things to look at. It has hundreds of different cameras on display and there are very interesting pictures on the walls of sport stars and local sport teams. The place was super clean and friendly. We did wait a bit for our food but we were kept busy by the many interesting things all around. The food was great. I love a good hot dog and my son also enjoyed his burger. We came back again few weeks later. Highly recommend it for good American food.”

“Vini's has been a local institution for as long as I can remember. Their pizza slice is such a good deal and their dough is really good and always fresh. What I really love is their take on a calzone with their Pizzarito. It is one of the best things I have ever had in Palatine and will continue to keep me coming back. “This was my first time visit to this recently opened Korean Barbecue Chicken restaurant. Their main menu offering is a variety of flavor options for whole chicken, wings or boneless chicken. For this visit, I chose the Galbi boneless chicken with a side fries. The food was freshly prepared and the flavor matched the menu description “sweet, savory and smoky with green onions and sesame seed garnish”. The food was nice and hot and the service was friendly. For carry out orders, I recommend ordering ahead as the wait time for a walk-in carry out order was about 20-25 minutes.”

“Went there for breakfast with the husband and I was so pleased that we chose Honey Jam! Went there on a Wednesday morning for breakfast and they were not busy we were served immediately by our server who is fantastic! My husband had the Hawaiian French toast which was special and I had the West Coast crepes. The crates were unbelievably amazing and huge and I couldn't even finish one of them. My husband got the Hawaiian French toast which was a special and although it was a bit sweet for him he loved it! The server did warn it was sweet and could probably be done for a desert but he was glad he chose it. He also ordered a side of sausage that was very lean and absolutely delicious! As always their regular coffee with French vanilla creamer (you have to ask for it!) has great body and taste and is not light and watery like most restaurants! We had a great server and it's a beautiful and clean atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and bring the parents soon! Total local gem!”

We decided to give them another chance during their 50% off day since they reopened after getting new ovens and the pizza was delicious! We ordered the Hawaiian and Classic combo and have no complaints. The crust was a little overdone but we love it crispy! “Surprisingly very good! I got the mushroom burger with a fried egg. The burger was quite big and filling. They were only allowing carry-out, and we waited about 10 min for the order to be ready. But they cooked the burger to your preference right infront of you. The place was clean and we only wished they had dine in. Will most likely go back again to try their other burgers. “Today the buffet lunch was good. Well balanced between vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. They also had Vegan options too. One thing missing though was fresh fruit but instead they had Jalebi for Vegan. This is a hot or miss joint. I would recommend to go in weekdays as my experience on Friday was not great.
