Watermelon Park & Campground

Address: 3322 Locke's Mill Rd, Berryville, VA 22611, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“Great spot on the water, very crowded on the weekends. Camping is missing well maintained fire pits and playground needs maintenance. Bathroom with running water is far from the camping so most likely you will depend on portable toilets. Camping is mostly out in a big field with few trees.”

Watermelon Park Fest

Address: 3322 Locke's Mill Rd, Berryville, VA 22611, USA

Park

“Great idea in 2018 just did not come through. Bella Flec played solo to a big stage an Ricky Scaggs right arm was in a sling and only sang. Big family interest with camping....”

Shenandoah University River Campus at Cool Spring Battlefield

Address: 1400 Parker Ln, Bluemont, VA 20135, USA

Park

“One ot the best walking/running trails in the area. Especially in spring, summer, and fall. They mow interior paths among the heather and it creates a surreal landscape for kids. Lots of wildlife and flora to see. Free parking and is open until dusk daily. The road getting in is a bit of a mess (potholes), but it's worth it. It is a reclaimed golf course. Great for dog lovers.”

Applachian Trail Access Point

Address: Pine Grove Rd, Bluemont, VA 20135, USA

Park

“Awesome hike! Hiked 4 miles in on the Appalachian trail route. Pretty rocky trails with a couple fantastic class-2 bouldering opportunities along the way if that's your thing. Tons of places to take a break, and some unique rock formations. Beautiful boulder river crossings with small falls. Ravens Rock was fantastic --about 2 1/2 miles in. Outstanding views of the rolling backdrop for such a shallow elevation. The inclines can get pretty intense at times if you aren't used to the rocky paths, with a total elevation gain of around 1600 feet. Get an early start, limited parking at the trail-head and trail can be moderately trafficked from 10:00 AM onward. Highly recommend. Totally worth it for the gorgeous view.”

Raven Rocks Trailhead

Address: Bluemont, VA 20135, USA

Park

“Raven rocks is a great hike. The trailhead is easy to find off route 7, though the parking lot is pretty small. But there is a larger lot to park at just up the road, but you do them have to cross the highway. Fair bit of elevation gain and loss over the 6 mile hike. Great view at the top.”
