“Touring the mansion, you keep discovering new treasures, not only masterpieces of the past, but also great contemporary paintings. Don't miss the basement rec room with mirrored bar straight out of a Miami Beach mob movie. No, those aren't flamingos on the glasses -- look again.”

“Old Salem is an amazing little place, it's not what many areas like this are where you have to pay for everything, it's super well maintained and you can quite literally feel the history here. Whether you are here to walk, take pictures, or just to go back in time this is a not-so-hidden gem of our city that makes you realize just how great our little area is!”

“Wow! We stayed here as part of our Harvest Host membership. We really did not know what to expect when we booked this great HH! I haven't been to a living history neighborhood since I was a kid and we really enjoyed it. Upon arriving we entered and received a very thorough overview of what was open and a little history of Old Salem. Purchased our tickets and set off. Make sure to arrive early as you will want to spend some time touring the homes and shops. We enjoyed the whole village even though we arrived a little late. We checked out all of the open houses and really learned a lot. Parking area was paved and not so level but the auto level was able to correct without any blocks under the jacks. We expected a little more noise for being so close to downtown but it was super quiet! When we woke up we walked through the village again and spent some time on church street exploring more of the neighborhood. We were the only ones there for the night so we had this place all to ourself. We enjoyed or stay here and will plana return trip once some of the other houses open again.”

“It was a fascinating experience starting before I walked in the door. The "Cowboy" met me on the porch sporting an authentic holster and 2 pistols along with cowboy attire. If you like old westerns and history this is the place. Clemmons and this area is blessed to have such a unique, little western museum in our back yard. I will be back.”

“My husband and I decided to stop by two weeks ago and it was just LOVELY. It is a small place but the history is rich. We walked around freely and admired the scenery. It was so peaceful and quiet. There was a very nice lady dressed in period clothing who offered us free stew and bread and it was such a fun experience. We really had a great time.”

Historic Bethabara Park

“I spent a weekend with like minded 18th century living historian's. Think Rev War and Georgian era. The guided tour given by staff at the center was top notch and explained some of the founding of Salem and the Why did the Moravian church buy the County!?!. Our weekend was a private sanctioned event and we tried to be accurate. (No we didn't dig trenches) but observed masks and social distancing also requiring All disposable eating equipment. But it didn't detract from the overall experience of learning details, of life, clothing, stations in life, certain manners (and Lack of) and skills one could take away to reexamine.”

Its takes several hours to get through the entire thing. The shop is very nifty with lots of cute things. They have snacks. They also have events at the location and on the website. “Absolutely Amazing and Winston-Salem’s best kept secret. Who knew you could take the kids fishing here as well. If you have not seen the Old meets New here you don’t know what your missing. I very much enjoyed my visit here. So much talent under one roof and So much history too. Who ever came up with the idea to take this Historical site and make a contemporary art museum out of it must have been thought to be crazy whenever they purposed the idea, I’m not sure if it was a group or one person’s plan , but now must be considered true genius and I couldn’t be happier for the successful work that surly will inspire all that visit this wonderful place. The Staff here most of what I gathered are volunteers and the most helpful nicest, considerate people ever put together Thank You so very much I will share this with family and friends for years to come.”
