Onsted State Game Area

Address: 42°02'50."N 84°14'."W, NE 50th Ave, 7, MI 49230, USA

Park

“Nice place to wander around, fish, hunt or kayak if any of those activities are your thing. There really aren't "hiking trails" per se but rather random paths going in all directions. Despite no trail markers it's unlikely you'll get lost. During hunting season it's probably best to stick to the roads or the lakes and give the hunters some space. Very nice lakes with no houses (maybe 1 or 2). Depending on the water levels most of the lakes are connected with the exception of Grassy Lake. If you are adventurous you can locate the Rasin River where it connects into and exits the chain of lakes. You can't go far up or down river but it is fun trying to locate the river and explore. Fishing is pretty good and has little pressure. Each lake is very different. Grassy lake is extremely shallow and One mile very deep with mostly steep drop offs from shore. No motors allowed on all lakes (except maybe Grassy lake) which mentioned is very shallow. There is a decent boardwalk down to one mile lake to put in your kayak or canoe. I think the star of the area are the roads. Beautiful sections of tree lined roads which are stunning in the fall. Cons are there are lots of ticks in the area and years of abandoned junk from illegal dumping and some litter throughout. Also some locals use it to "hang out" which is their right but could make some uncomfortable. As mentioned it's not setup for "hiking" but still nice to wander through the woods and wetland areas. Accessing the lakes from any place other than the 3 designated areas (2 boardwalks or the 1 small ramp) is difficult because of the wetlands and vegetation.”

Lake Hudson Recreation Area

Address: 5505 Morey Hwy, Clayton, MI 49235, USA

Park

“Camping: If there is a trailer Dump station, I didn't find it, that is the only thing keeping this from a 5 star review. No cell service. Some of the electrical boxes are 50+/- feet from where you would park your camper or set up the tent. I was able to reserve a spot on Saturday night, a couple days out. But the campground was full when we arrived. There is solid greenery between most sites, but many Inner loop sites back to each other, ones on 26-50 inner loop are best for groups. The sites are good sized. No bad spots, just spots for different needs. The whole lake is "no wake", people seemed to be respecting the rule.”

Bicentenial Park

Address: 5626 Tipton Hwy, Adrian, MI 49221, USA

Park

“The Bicentennial Park's best use is to see the American Beach Trees found on the North side of the Wolf Creek about 15 minutes into the trial. The first half of the trial is full of bugs so wear Off with Deet. The Praire is maturing and is becoming more beautiful each year. My favorite time to trial is in the spring when all the Jacknthe Pulpit, Trillium, May Flowers, violets, and more are in bloom in the furthest point in the woods. The park is open dawn to dusk.”

Tate Park

“This is a very great and big park! There’s a nice good size playground, places to play soccer, for baseball diamonds, a walking path that goes around the whole park or paths that are not more than 200 feet, A very nice handicap accessible gazebo, multiple pavilions around the park, and restrooms at the front. Definitely a great place for any activity you’d like!”

Hayes State Park

Address: 1220 Wamplers Lake Rd, Onsted, MI 49265, USA

Park

“What a great time....again! Awesome lake within walking/biking distance for swimming. Clean showers and restroom facilities within a very short walk. Dollar General and and a Gas Station/Convenience store just outside the park. 15 and 30 amp hook up at site 107 with a water nozzle right there. Site specific info: 107's back is to the east. Since sites 181 and 183 are right behind you, there isn't any shade. All the sites are pretty much the same size. We use a 10X10 screen tent and 14X10 sleeping tent. We also use a sun shade that's 6X3. There is a picnic table at every site and a fire pit. Even with all our gear, there's room for a few chairs and another 14X10 tent. There's a cement pad at 107 that can find a Ram and Jetta. 181 can fit a Ram and Tahoe. We've never experienced negative folks here! Everyone is friendly and we've made friends on a few occasions. I grew up camping and this state park rivals any private park I've been to. No pool or putt-putt but I can find that at home!”

Address: 1090 N Broad St, Adrian, MI 49221, USA

“The top row of the bleachers need to be fixed before someone get's hurt. Everything else is great. We can't use the shelves in the dugout because they're very dirty. I don't know if anyone is expected to clean those, but if so, they're not doing it. I tell my son to keep his stuff in his bag. He put his hat on that shelf once and when he pulled it out it had gone from brand new to looking like a 15 year old hat of a man that live's under a bridge. lol”

Bachmayer Park

Address: 113 S Monroe St, Blissfield, MI 49228, USA

Park

“Great park! Ever since I was little, I've always liked coming here. So much has changed over the years. They have a top notch playground on the west side. We were here for the River Raisin Festival and had a great time. There was not much along the lines of litter on the ground. The grounds crew were on top of it. It was also nice that the river hadn't flooded recently, so all of the grassy areas were nice and dry. When the crowds aren't around, it's a good place to catch catfish and the occasional small mouth bass. Great park experience no matter of it's for the Festival, playground, fishing, or just wanting a scenic place to go and relax.”
