Hickory Hill Campground

Address: Cumberland Island, St Marys, GA 31558, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“There are a lot of great little spaces to set up camp at Hickory Hill. There are several different areas within the campground that are sheltered with trees and provide a bit of privacy from the other campers in the area. Unlike Yankee Paradise where everyone is pretty much out in the open. There are many options for hanging hammocks and it was really nice that there were still so many ropes in the trees for hanging your stuff. It was disappointing to see how many people left toilet paper and tampon applicators in the woods. If you continue on the parallel trail another mile north of Hickory Hill there is a water source, but you will have to treat it. From the campground if you take the Willow Pond Trail to the east, it's a very pretty and fun hike to the beach. Taking the Willow Pond Trail to the west takes you to the main road. There are horses that run up the parallel trail through the campground so be on the lookout.”

Indian Springs Campground

“We love it here. It's gorgeous. The washing machine on our side didn't work but there's another one on the other side that works. We just went to Jackson and did our laundry there. I'm staying here while I look for housing in McDonough which has proved the worst move in my military career. I've moved 8 times and I'm thankful to have this campground and a trailer. You can only stay in GA state parks for 2 weeks at a time. After two weeks, you have to move. I came here from High Falls State park. If you have kids with you, you might like High Falls better. I prefer Indian Springs. It's been quieter and the sites are just cooler here. You have a little fence and it feels like home. There are healing springs here that you can go lay in or hang out. We haven't done that but you can see people in the water at the entrance to the park. Looks refreshing in this heat.”

Allatoona Aquatics Base BSA

“We visited the camp grounds and stayed over night in site 6. The grounds are pretty spacious and most seem to be pretty level. It was pouring rain and thundering the night that we stayed but we had no issues. Note, there is only one real outhouse type bathroom area near the camp grounds that’s closer to sites 2 and 3. It’s a very nice bathroom though with motion lighting and kept very clean. Traveling to the restroom in the middle of the night through is not for the faint of heart so be prepared. There are a lot of water based merit badge opportunities available for the scouts including swimming, canoeing and sailing. Everyone there seems friendly and helpful. For example we were able to switch sites the day we arrived without issue since the site we were scheduled for was pretty muddy. Anyway we enjoyed our stay and recommend visiting for a fun scouting adventure”

Shady Grove Campground

Address: 7800 Allyn Ln Memorial Way, Cumming, GA 30041, USA

“We camp here every year for a week or two. This year, we showed up unexpectedly (we arrived a day early), and the campground worked very hard to accommodate us so we wouldn't have to turn around and head somewhere else. So very nice and professional. I love it here so much. The views, the lake, we bring our bikes and kayaks and have the best time.”

Twin Lakes Rv Park

Address: 3300 Shore Dr, Cumming, GA 30040, USA

Campground Lodging Park

“We stayed here for 1 month after we moved out from Utah while we were buying a house, and it was perfect for what we needed! The campground has a great location, close to shops, restaurants, etc... The campground itself has some really nice scenery. The lakes are pretty and the trails around either side are very fun to walk. The employees were always kind and helpful. A lot of people seem to be staying there on some sort of extended basis so it feels very friendly around the campground. There seem to be nice lakefront spots for people on shorter stays. Overall, highly recommend!”

“Easy check in after hours. They ask for a form to be filled out, left at the check in station and a picture of the form and driver’s license sent to the manager/owner. We came in after dark and visibility was low. Wasn’t impossible but if we had to do it again would rather come in with some more light. We are in a 38 foot rig and did fine. Super cute campground with wildlife and animals!”

Always easy getting it and checking back in. We have never had any issues with anyone here. Employees are very nice. Nice boats. Clean and well taken care of.”

Shoal Creek Campground

“I have no idea how anyone could give this place a bad rating. My wife and I went camping here for two nights over the weekend and had a wonderful time. This campground is GORGEOUS. Nearly every site has a view of the lake. We went in early November and the autumn colors were magical. We had a tent site. Each site has a fire ring and aluminum picnic table. And a tall pole... not sure what that's for but we put a lantern on ours for light. Check in was easy and there's a gate at the entrance, which I liked. We felt safe the entire time. There were other campers, but a lot of empty sites too, which is expected this time of year. It was nice and quiet most of the time. We did have an issue with some obnoxiously loud people at 1am but honestly, I've gone camping all my life and there's ALWAYS one group of obnoxious people at 1 am anywhere you go. I think someone called security, because we heard yelling and then it was quiet right after. Bathrooms and showers were clean, and smelt like bleach. Everything was in working order. Yes facilities look old but you are camping. This ain't the Ritz. If you want brand new gold toilets, stay at a hotel. All in all one of the most lovely campground I've been at. And I've been at a lot. Here's some pictures to show you how pretty this place is!”

Jenny Ridge Venue & RV Park

Address: 2790 S 2nd St, Folkston, GA 31537, USA

“The couple that run the office are so polite and helpful. My wife and I stay here about 6 months of the year for a couple years now when visiting the east coast. Safe and clean park. Not much around but if you need a little stop where you don't have to worry about leaving your RV to go to the beach, this is the place. Reasonably priced monthly that includes electricity. We will always come back to Jenny ridge”

“Rained real hard our lot flooded about 6" of water at our steps”

Stafford Beach Campground

Address: Cumberland Island, St Marys, GA 31558, USA

Campground Lodging Park

“If you hike in to Stafford campground, you will appreciate the accommodations. There electricity and water but you MUST filter the water for drinking/cooking. There is no hot water but it is actually ok and refreshing after a long day of hiking. The best place to view the wild horses is just down the access road. The beach is awesome and peaceful. No crowds here probably because it is such an effort to get and stay here. All the campsites are nicely located with tree cover, fire rings and a choice of tent locations. Firewood can be hard to come by so be prepared to scavenge further from camp.”

Victoria Campground

Address: 937 Victoria Landing Dr, Woodstock, GA 30189, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“We are on #50. It is close to the water and it’s a pull through. I love the campgrounds. I think it’s the cleanest campgrounds we visited so far. We’ve met some really nice campers here. The camp host was friendly as well. He would ride through on his electric moped just to make sure everything was ok. We will be back. Had a really great time here.”

Sawnee Campground

Address: 3200 Buford Dam Rd, Cumming, GA 30041, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“We only camped one night but had a great time. The check in hosts (Trish and Will, I believe?) we extremely kind and helpful. The waterside sites are gorgeous but I would avoid the sites that back up to Buford Dam Road due to noise and lack of scenery. We were in site 7, which is quite small for a trailer. Ours is 16 feet and I would not try with something larger. Ideal for tents though. The bathrooms were clean but very minimal. No trash cans in the bathrooms, so please pack your garbage out. There are bins outside the bathroom. I did notice the dumpster was overflowing and needed to be picked up. The campground was very quiet at night, but be aware, there are houses across the lake from some of the sites. It could get noisy especially around summer holidays. We live locally and are familiar with Lake Lanier. There is lots of do here for recreation and there are stores and restaurants nearby. We will be back to Sawnee for another staycation in the future! Last but not least thank you so much Dawn for making this experience one to remember forever! “We just got back from an amazing anniversary weekend at Banning Mills. We wanted to get away for a weekend but not have to drive super far and are glad we picked this place. We stayed in a tree house with the creek view which was super cozy. We played mini golf, hit the trails and of course went zip lining!!! We did levels 1-3 then added on the ridge runner which was spectacular. The gourmet dinner was amazing and the whole weekend they were accommodating of me being a vegetarian. We will be back for more adventures and highly recommend.”

“Great campground! Very well maintained. Sites are well leveled and spacious. Staff is very friendly. Two beaches, playground, boat launch. Great experience for novice camper. Only complaint- they sold me firewood that would just not burn, tried several fire starters, finally went to a nearby gas station to get some normal wood for the campfire.”

We had family and friends come stay at the campground too. The boys rode their bikes, swam in the pool, fished and played lots of basketball. Check in was easy and the security was great. We will go back to this campground. Very family friendly and great memories!”

Margaritaville at Lanier Islands Water Park

Address: 7650 Lanier Islands Pkwy, Buford, GA 30518, USA

Campground Amusement park Park Restaurant Lodging

“We had dinner at the restaurant. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon so we waited at the bar. Once we were seated, Mickalea took excellent care of us. We ordered grouper fingers and fried pickles for appetizers. It came very quickly and the apps were very good. The dinners consisted of Swiss mushroom burger and shrimp baskets. I am impressed at the speed of the service. The food was decent and the service was excellent. Now, getting to the restaurant is a bit tricky. If you are stating on-site, it’s easier to get there but you will park a long long way away.”
