“So the nature center and planetarium--whatever. It has a drinking fountain, a restroom, some exhibits that will help you learn about the flora and fauna of the park if you're into that kind of thing. The actual park is amazing. Miles and miles of very good trail, and plenty of places to feel like you're actually in the woods, without ever having to step outside of the city. Gorgeous picnic spaces where you can host a campfire picnic for free. If you live in DC and you like to hike or trail run, this is *not* to be missed.”

The expereienc of being in front of some of the world's best bonsai in such a tranquil setting can't be replaced and simply viewing pictures in books can't provide the same appreciation for the attention to detail and care that has gone into the bonsai trees. Everyone in our group had a great experience. The caretakers and staff do a fantastic job. You won't regret spending some time here.”

Rock Creek Capitol Ruins

Address: Washington, DC 20015, USA

Museum

“Slightly off the beaten path are the so-called Capitol Ruins, a collection of literally chock-a-block stacks of stonework discarded from a renovation of the Capitol in 1958 - most of it originating from when the Capitol was first built more than 200 years ago. It has the look and feel of a strange cross between a cemetery and the end of super-sized game of Jenga. Now half overgrown by the encroaching forest, moss and lichen, these pieces of stone appear content to rejoin their more earthbound brethren after their brief hiatus from the natural-order-of-things at the whim of some know-it-all, opposable-thumbed, short-timing bio-organisms.”

There are paintings, furniture, jewels, china and glassware from Russia and France which will dazzle anyone who loves beauty. The grounds, gardens and outbuildings are a delight. If you feel cooped up in your tiny condo, go see how the other half lived for awhile.”

Most importantly, it instills empathy by allowing the attendees to stand in another's shoes, yours of which, are required to be left behind. Any person who has a strong opinion about The Wall and US immigration policy, one way or another, should experience this exhibit. You will be moved.”
