“Great tour of big bear lake, couldn't really hear the captain telling us the history cause it was loud inside. It was very relaxing though to just cruise on the lake, boat wasn't full so had roon to move around. Staff was friendly, and price for trip and snacks inside are good. Could use some AC inside during hot summer days though. Overall nice experience.”

“Amazing hike! I couldnt find the Hole in the wall trailhead (left of the visitors center) so I did the Barber Peak Loop Trail (6 miles). Super long and so parts don’t have a marker. I kept going straight and stayed “close” to the rocks. I saw cows on the trail and you can also bring horses. On my way back I almost took the hoop trail back but I went into the canyon instead. Great hike took me about 2.5 hours”

“The people here are so friendly and helpful! There are some small exhibits to look at and some children’s activities. There are restrooms available in the front. They also confirmed for me that my America The Beautiful interagency pass is good for parking in these US Forest areas too and gave me a hanger for my rear view mirror”

“My family very much enjoyed renting through Happy Trails Rental. The online booking was smooth, the reminder emails helped, the extra blankets/goggles/gloves that were provided by Ben the owner were appreciated and the GPS navigation was great as a 1st time off road driver. What really stood out was the customer service as we somehow snuck onto the rental calendar for December 31st but Ben did not cancel our reservation. Much appreciated and much respect. If you want an amazing experience off roading, Happy Trails Rental is the only place to go to.”

“We've always wanted to vacation in Big Bear Lake and came across Big Bear Escapes. From the first moment it was a great holiday. We had booked the Bear Paw Cabin and were thrilled with the loving but also practical furnishings and the great location. The welcome basket was put together very nicely. The fact that we felt at home was not least due to our wonderful host Doria. She is great, helpful, always available for questions and requests and just totally in her element. “My husband and I stayed in Cabin 20 this past weekend and had a fabulous time. The temperature in Big Bear was exceptionally hot, but before we checked in Loraine had gone up to the cabin to ensure all the blinds were closed up and had the window AC unit on ready for our arrival. We enjoyed the close proximity to the Village, and our cabin (being higher up on the hill) even had a peekaboo view of the lake. Definitely recommend choosing Cabin 20 since it is up higher than the rest and thus provides a little more privacy. The in-cabin jacuzzi is a huge bonus! The cabin also has a fireplace with complimentary wood that they provide—it was a little too warm this weekend for us to use, but would be a great amenity for the wintertime! We’re looking forward to coming back.”

“This is a good place to stop on the way to/from Vegas if you need to use the restroom and/or stretch your legs. They have both men/women's bathrooms but only 2 stalls were open when we visited. The views are pretty and make for some great pictures. They have a visitor center that has some snacks, drinks and things to see if you need to stretch your legs a bit.”

“We had an amazing time tonight. The horses are well feed, hydrated, groomed, calm and content. It really bothered me when a person screamed out their car window that horses pulling a carriage is animal abuse. I have been around horses and other farm animals my whole life. Those beautiful clydes are VERY well cared for and even had nice trimmed hooves with horse shoes. The people were so warm and kind to us. They even let a little girl from the family before us ride up front. This was my mom's first time riding in a carriage and she had an amazing time. The village was lit up and we even stopped to star gaze by the lake for a little bit and showed us Satern and Jupiter as they are overlapping eachother for the first time in about 800 years. It was the perfect Christmas season experience. Please do not be discouraged by some of these crazy comments made by selfish and stuck up people. They may not answer the phone like they work at some doctors office but they are very kind, thoughtful, and take very good care of their horses. Thank you again!”

“Stayed for a few days in July. Great summer location with great views and a perfect open layout. My favorite part was opening the windowed doors extending the living room right onto the deck in the evening cool air. Took the opportunity for a nice 30 minute walk down to the coffee shops in the morning and only a 5-10 minute drive to any store. Thank you Capanna 693 and looking forward to a winter visit.”

“My family had a pleasant and comfortable weekend at the cabin. We had all necessary kitchen tools for meals which is always so important for our family when vacationing. We enjoyed the layout of the cabin, especially since we have children who love to run around to different rooms. The location close to Big Bear Mountain Resort was so convenient. We didn’t use the shuttle system that transported people to the ski resort but pick up/drop off is right outside the cabin. Plus, there’s a great donut shop that is next door! The hosts were great and gave us so many good recommendations for walking around and sledding. Highly recommend and we would come back to this cabin!”
