Lodging

“The rooms are small but they have everything you need, the beds are comfy and the A/C works well. Good water pressure and good water heat. This is exactly across from the beach and is perfectly located for a vacation stay. The front desk was very accommodating and helpful. The only thing I would say is don't stay here if you have any walking problems because all rooms are up some steep stairs.”

OMEO Casa Mariquita

Address: 229 Metropole Ave, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Lodging

“Very clean and updated rooms. Close to town, vons, and mini-golf. Kinda small but you dont go to Catalina to sit in a hotel room. Front desk ladies were very nice and professional. Checking in and out was simple and easy. Only thing I would like to mention is there is no elevator. Didnt mind but being on the 4th floor will give you a great leg exercise. Would definitely stay here again.”

Camp Emerald Bay

Address: 1 Cove Rd, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“I've gone to Emerald Bay multiple years with my sons and their boy scout troop. What a great experience! The staff, facilities and food ("Fruit Punch! Haven't had it? Haven't lived.") are great, but the best part was the focus on living the scout law and extra opportunities than just the merit badge classes. Our troop has loved the values game and the pirate program over the years. We have several "Brigands" and even a couple "Anchormen" now. Also "Ranger Sean!" He remembered our boys by name over several years. If he's not careful he will end up as chief scout executive. Four stars only for two reasons. Difficult to get to and the cost has been prohibitive for some of our scouts. We want all our boys, even the disadvantaged ones, to have these experiences. All our scouts want to keep going back and I understand why. Great job Camp Emerald Bay!”

Catalina Hotel St Lauren

“Charming little spot! Price, location, and friendliness of staff made it worth it, even though walls were thin and location on Google is a little off.”

Catalina Courtyard Suites

Address: 108 Marilla Ave, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Lodging

“Very nice hotel for a reasonable price. It's located right off the main street (Crescent) so is very convenient for restaurants and other activities. The rooms are clean and quiet and look like they were recently renovated. Ours even had a jacuzzi built into the bathtub. A nice touch is the fire pit in the courtyard that is on from 6 to 9 pm daily. It's nice to sit around the fire and relax after a day of outdoor activities. Also they have free hot coffee, tea, and hot chocolate throughout the day in the courtyard, and free pastries in the morning. One thing I would recommend is that you try to get an upstairs room. I think we had a herd of disco-loving elephants staying in the room above us who liked to rearrange furniture at 6:30 in the morning. Just a suggestion...”

Snug Harbor Inn

Address: 108 Sumner Ave, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

“We stayed at the Snug Harbor for our anniversary and it was amazing. Not only was the hotel centrally located but the staff was super friendly. We had a great breakfast, which is included; (granola, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice and freshly baked blueberry bread) delivered to our room. We had forgot to bring beach towels and we were able to check some out. The room was spacious, clean, cool with 3 windows. It even had a cute little table over looking the street below with 2 comfy chairs where we sat and had our breakfast. We had a wonderful stay! Thank you for making our weekend that much more special!”

The Edgewater

Address: 415 Crescent Ave, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Lodging

“The Edgewater is such a gem! The hotel has a beautiful family history, and holds a ton of charm. You can't beat the central oceanfront location, and the hotel itself is lovely, including beautiful photos from an earlier Catalina Island - you feel like you are a part of the island's history. There is a fun outdoor terrace and an indoor TV area. 100% would recommend and will definitely stay here again! Britney and Bo are amazing hosts!”

Lodging

“Pros: This was a very nice hotel, clean room, lots of room freebies including bottled water, amazing continental breakfast, real sausage, eggs, 4 types of bagels, bread, cereal, coffee (even had almond milk etc.. golf cart always picked us up from the pickup spot within 10 min, they even did a favor by picking my wife up from casino point. We arrived early in the morning 7am and they allowed my wife to early check in at 8am, that was so nice of them! Cons: Room size, (room 110) was very small. I would stay there again though. Things they can improve: Customer service, didn't respond to reply email asking for pickup time after 3 days, it took a second email to get a response. During breakfast there was an employee smoking below us on the lower level (lobby), if you're sensitive to smoke, you may find it difficult. Overall, i would definitely stay here again! This is a good hotel!”

Stayed 3 nights on the last week of Oct. and Kathleen was welcoming us with warm heart and Roger was helping us everything perfectly. I can only say one thing for sure the old turner inn is not an ordinary bed & breakfast inn but more like a home sweet home. Sorry Kathleen, we did not say goodbye to you when we leave. Hermit Gulch Campground

Address: Avalon Cyn Rd, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“The trail attached to the campground is an amazing hike! Very beautiful views of the island. At the top, you can see both sides. Not for the beginners but not fully intermediate either. Heading out by 10am ish and you will get in the mountain shade for roughy 30-40% of the hike. Nice for the warm days. No boulders or benches to sit and rest if needed, will need to set on the ground or side of the hill. Adventure suggestion: Walk from town to the trail head or take the bus for about $2. Hike about a quarter of a mile past the 2mile marker and on the left there is a nice spot to sit, meditate an take in the sights. Then make your way to the top of the trail and there is no benches but a shaded stone wall to sit and eat some lunch. Take it all in, it’s beautiful up there. Then take the road to the left will lead you to another split, stay left. This will take you through the Garden to Sky hike and out of the gardens dropping you off at the bus stop.”

The Avalon Hotel

Address: 124 Whittley Ave, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Lodging

“I decided to plan a Anniversary Trip to Catalina. Based on customer reviews The Avalon Hotel seemed to be the right choice. All I can say is WOW. I called in to make the reservation. They set everything up for me. Everything from Red Wine in the room, to booking our Anniversary Steak Dinner w/ Flowers on the table, to Rose Petals in the room. We booked the nicest suite they had and the views were over the top. Beautiful! My wife was amazed on how much we planned out the trip. All of this couldn't have been done without The Avalon Hotel staff. They truly went out of their way and we will 100% be back. Thank you Avalon Hotel staff! You guys truly made our trip. A+”

Holiday Inn Resort Catalina Island

Mt. Ada

Address: 398 Wrigley Rd, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Lodging

“I can’t express how wonderful this B&B is. We stayed here for a birthday and we had such a good experience. The staff picked us up from the pier and took us to the Mansion. The staff lavished us with attention. The food was superb and the mansion has a wonderful view of the island. We will definitely stay here again. The one thing is this B&B is intimate and is not a place for children. This is an adults only B&B.”

Parsons Landing

Address: Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“Parsons Landing is a crazy pretty place to camp. There's pretty much nothing here - just fox boxes, clean pit toilets and fire pits. You can pay to have water and firewood delivered to your site which you should do. Previous campers have made wind shelters out of rocks at every campsite for your fire or to pitch your tent behind. If there's an earthquake you're probably gonna suffer a brain injury but what can you do?”

Hotel Metropole

Address: 205 Crescent Ave, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Lodging

“Check-in was quick and efficient. I had some key issues which they promptly fixed. The room was clean and didn't have any issues. The balcony with a view of the ocean was fantastic. It actually had some chairs and a table. Breakfast was a basic plain bagel, some pastries, fruit, and cereal. While not inherently bad, I'd prefer to see some more variety with whole grains mixed in. They also had some dark roast coffee and a Keurig. I'll definitely consider it next time I'm on Catalina, but it didn't blow me away to the point where I'd immediately go back without researching other options.”

Hotel Catalina

Address: 129 Whittley Ave, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Lodging

“Rooms are cute and clean, hotel staff is kind and thoughtful. When we stopped to drop off our bag early on the morning of our arrival, the front desk staff called to check if the room was available and allowed us to check in way earlier than we expected, which was great. There is a partial view of the beach through our window, as well.”

El Terado Terrace Mini Suites

“Great amenities. Friendly service. Good size, clean room. Only knock is limited cable TV selection. Good value.”

Camp Emerald Bay

Address: 1 Cove Rd, Avalon, CA 90704, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“This was the best Boy Scout camp my boys went to. The staff was amazing, which is not surprising - I think they have their pick of employees. If you're planning to spend the summer working at a Boy Scout Camp, why would you not choose to do it on Catalina Island? The weather was beautiful, the facilities were slightly better than the other camps, and the range of merit badges was great. This is obviously a good place to work on the water-related badges. The sailing badge, in particular, was a good one to do here. We were there on a pretty windy week, so the kids had a blast with the sailboats. The overnight "war canoe" trip to Parson's Beach was amazing, and the older scouts really enjoyed the Rugged "E" program. Highly recommended.”
