“My first time dinning at the big Lake Family Restaurant, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably, one of the best Country Fried Steaks I've ever ordered. The mashed potatoes and gravy are the closest to homemade you'll find eating out (I think they are homemade for the record) My wife ordered a Rubin Sandwich. She says it was delicious as well. Cute place with all the old time decor, a few of the things I spotted, I played with, as a little boy. “Edit: We've been here a handful of times over the last year and we're back again for my birthday. Hubs made sure to ask @ the prime rib being med. rare so he's a happy camper. Tonight I order the seafood augratin and OH MY GOODNESS! It was absolutely amazing! Some crustini and or a spoon would've nice though. We've also ordered pizza here several times and will say, the extra price is well worth it! It's the best pizza in the valley so far! Man! That seafood Augratin was amazing!**** We went here for my birthday dinner. Wait time was about 20mins so we sat at the bar and enjoyed a drink. Service all around was good. Disappointment came when our prime rib dinners were delivered over cooked. We ordered medium rare and from the pix you can see they were medium. The waitress did go back and apparently they had run out of Med-rare and failed to notify the servers. Ok I was looking forward to some nice in season veggies but they were super soggy...I'd swear they were frozen...very bland. Lastly, we were 1/2 way through our meals when we realized that they gave my husband both of our horseradish cups....I figured they just served without. Little complaints really but they add up”

“12/8/22 update: I had bad curry at a different local place recently and it made me realize how thankful I am to have Pho Lucky. It's the best Thai food in the valley! Yes the prices have gone up but it's very high quality and good portions-- a lot of food will last 2 meals. Pho Lucky is the best and I'm so happy they are open on Sunday's again :) I've meant to write this review for months, because this is the best thai curry in the valley in my opinion. Never got around to writing a review because we only ever get takeout and I always eat the food before I remember to get a picture of it. We get takeout here just about weekly, and ended up dining inside for the first time yesterday so I finally got some good pics of the food. Their curry is SO. GOOD. The flavor, the spice level, the vegetables. Everything is perfect. It's the best curry I've ever had. Red, green, yellow, panang, and massaman. I've tried them all. Red and green are my favorites. The vegetables they use are local and so fresh. The most delicious green broccoli and snap peas and thai eggplant was in the green curry I got this time. They will sort of switch up their veggies depending on what they have on hand, but it's always amazing and so fresh. Their pad thai is very, very good too. Excellent flavor and noodles. Their spring rolls are good too and I like the tangier sauce. They come with 8 spring rolls instead of 6 like many places so good value.”

Best of all, the one time, that Google Maps leads you to the right place!!! “Who would have thought that the best Thai food in Southcentral Alaska was hidden just south of Willow on the Parks Highway? We didn't know what to expect when we rolled in for lunch, but the smell coming from the kitchen convinced us we were on the right track. You can sit at the kitchen counter, in the main dining room, outdoor at a picnic table or back in the bar. We opted for bar seating and decided to start things off with a homemade Bloody Mary. Strong showing. Next time I plan to order the spicy ginger margarita. My friend and I shared a dozen oysters split between the Black Sauce and Tom Yum. They were as good as they look in the picture-- the former had a complex, rich flavor profile with just enough kick, and the latter were a beautiful combination of two of my favorite things: Tom Yum soup and delicious Alaskan oysters. I probably could have made a meal of oysters and beer, but was glad we pressed on. The shrimp curry stir fry special arrived with a healthy portion of large prawns served in a rich curry broth. The shrimp were cooked perfectly-- just translucent. We also had the fried frogs legs, beautifully done with mixed vegetables and rice. This should be a required meal stop for any fan of Thai food driving the Parks Highway.”

“Very happy to have a poke place in the valley. Fish is always fresh and good. You can add on avocado and cucumber. Comes with edamame. Generous portions for the price. Small on the inside, so it can get crowded. There's a little bit of bar seating on one side of the wall.
