“Did the turkey run with my kids, was well organized and a lot of fun. Can’t wait to do it again. The place seemed large enough to host other events and had a nice club house if you will, that had bathrooms, food, and a large hall that had a craft show when we went. Large parking lot and easy to get to.”

Moulton Park

Address: 716 Millville Rd, Charles Town, WV 25414, USA

Park

“Clean park with a pretty sizable parking lot, port a potty, lots of separate areas with picnic tables for picnics, and a boat ramp for the river. Good spot to put in or get out with tubes. FYI the edge of the boat ramp drops off underwater sooner than you expect it to, and it's a ragged broken concrete edge -- someone in our group got cut pretty deep on it, but if you know to be careful it's not a problem.”

Schoolhouse Ridge North

Address: 874 Bakerton Rd, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425, USA

“A relaxing morning hike with an educational perspective. Short enough for older visitors of which I saw several. A few photo opportunities with the cannons and such. In the fall the trail isn't as clearly marked as it could be but an observent person can make it to the ridge.”

Park

“Nice walk. Path is in mostly grass with some mulchy bits and some muddy bits. The area around the ruins is wide open grassy plain with a nice mowed trail. Farther in has some gentle hills. Dogs are supposed to be on leash and owners are supposed to clean up but some people do not follow the rules. The CBP facility next door is doing a bunch of construction so your hike may have a soundtrack. Had a good time and a good walk for my girl healing from her knee surgery.”

When you walk the trails to the far edge of the property, there are some gorgeous secluded views of the Potomac River and Maryland Heights. A marker for a wildlife sanctuary and for Senator Jennings stands near the roadway.”

“Excellent walking self guide tour of the locks and canals that made up this area prior to harness the power of water for industry. And there is the town of Hapers Ferry as well - where abolitionist John Brown attempted to create an armed insurrection to end slavery by storming the federal armory in the town.”

Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA

Campground Rv park Park Lodging

“We enjoyed the campground, even though the season was pretty much over. The location is great if you're going to visit the local sites, and the grounds themselves are well kept. Only problem was that the sites don't drain all that well and there are puddles in the rain.”

“Part of Harpers Ferry National Park. Beautiful and historic park that sits on the border of three states, along two rivers - no wonder it played a vital role in the Civil War. NPS guides were so helpful and knowledgeable. We had a lovely day waking trails to scenic overlooks and historically relevant places. The trails were gravel and easy to walk.”

Every season is different and every minute is another photo opportunity for the artistic folks! Great for all ages.”

“This is the drop-off point for shuttle buses coming from the Visitor Center. From here, the historic downtown is only a 5-minute walk. There are no restrooms here. The nearest one is next to the bookstore, one of the first buildings on view as soon as you enter the town.”

Staircase Rapids

Address: Shenandoah River Dr, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425, USA

Park

“Very cool natural rock formations that look like giant steps. Sweeping views from the WVA side seem like a place from another time. The name for the town here was originally to be called Shenandoah Falls, although the prominence of Robert Harper's Ferry later inspired the official town name. Since the floods swept most of the buildings away that were along the Hall and Virginius Islands, what stands here is a true American village. And yes, btw, for the grammarians visiting this geological wonder, the village name is officially Harpers Ferry sans-apostrophe. Please take your apostrophes with you.”
