“One of their deputies caught me doing a "Miami roll" at a stop sign in Hadensville after midnight. Nobody around, no harm no foul. The deputy was just checking to see if I was drunk (I was not). Before letting me go with a warning. Honestly good for him. The hadensville-fife road is narrow, windy, but deceptively easy to drive until it's not. A drunk driver could easily kill someone on it. Glad the deputy was focused on what was important and not minor nonsense. In another instance I got to see this sheriff's department engage in a more hostile stop involving a search. In this case I was sitting at the macdonalds in Centreville watching two deputies engage with a car they had pulled over on broad street road. It was clear nobody involved knew they were being watched, but after a search of the car the deputies found what was very obvious from my hilltop pearch to be a Crack pipe and assorted drug paraphernalia. It definitely made my lunch interesting as I watched. I wondered if this exchange might end up internet worthy but again the deputies seemed to be pretty calm and straightforward in talking to the driver of the car. I have no idea what was being said but it was clear something that could have been an intensely hostile interaction was instead being handled very professionally. It was honestly very heartening to see.”

The officer in question works for Eastville PD which is separate from the sheriff's office. Also, I've found that the police here are very respectful and if you don't want a ticket, don't speed.”

“I wanted to take a moment to thank our outstanding VA Beach 4 th precinct officers who were kind, respectful & caring on 6/13 when they were called to check on a friend who did not show up for work & was not answering her phone. I was her emergency contact & was notified by the police they were at the house. After being scared to death about what we were going to find inside her home with her dogs, Officer Gulley was wonderful in handling me going into the house to get her dogs settled. Thank God my friend was on the floor for days with a broken hip. they were able to get her to the hospital & taken care of with all the kindness & compassion you could have remecer asked for. Officer Gulley & Pytash are hero’s in my mind & I will be forever grateful for the job they do every day. Thank you again to these fine young men & for taking care of us every day.”

“The Provost Marshall’s on this base are some of the most professional and caring law enforcement officials I have ever encountered. I recently moved here from California and didn’t really understand all the Virgina laws and i recently got pulled over on base. The Officer could of chose to tow my car, trust me he had every right too. Instead he chose to go the epic route and actually work with me to clear up the issues I had. I got those issues fixed within 24 hours and I was surprised to receive a call from the Officer letting me know I was good to drive again. He 1000% didn’t have to go out of his way to take care of me but as a veteran I really appreciated his understanding and professionalism. I’m actually glad I got pulled over on base instead of out in Petersburg somewhere. Once again Thank You”
