American Civil War Museum- Historic Tredegar

Address: 480 Tredegar St, Richmond, VA 23219, USA

Museum

“Great museum with a great amount of information. The museum was limiting the amount of people inside due to covid. I felt safe the entire time. They also validate your parking if you park next to the museum in their lot. The main exhibit is on the first floor and is presented chronologically. You walk through and get to experience what being a soldier on either side of the war was like. Very sobering and definitely worth the visit. They have a rotating exhibit upstairs. The current exhibit I didn't find to be too interesting but YMMV.”

Brown's Island

Address: S 7th St, Richmond, VA 23219, USA

Park

“I had to conquer my fear of the power of the River at its Peak. This walk let my instincts be at its highest level. There was nothing to fear Richmond Virginia would not let anyone jeopardize themselves at any point of the trail bridge over the James River. All in all I enjoyed the experience.”

“Well maintained visitor center and exhibits. Surrounding area is also great to take a stroll. Easy access to Belle Isle. Free parking for an hour in the parking lot if validated. Otherwise you can park in the Belle Isle lot which is usually filled up. I'll suggest about two hours to experience this place fully.”

“I loved working with Tredegar Iron Works on May 4th, 2019 for Haley and Michael’s wedding! Their staff was incredibly professional and accommodating during the rush of the big day. My clients really loved the views on the property as well!”

Richmond National Battlefield Park's Civil War Visitor Center

Address: 470 Tredegar St, Richmond, VA 23219, USA

Travel agency

“One of the best national Civil War battlefields in the East. The NPS has a visitors center in the historic Tredegar building that was used to make ammunition for the confederate state during the Civil War. There is a museum that accompanies the visitors center that tells the history of Richmond and the surrounding area before, during, and after the Civil War. The museum has treasured photos of the destruction of Richmond and maps that give a time period marking all events from 1861-1865. The museum is free to all and parking is available right next door.”
