“We ventured out to Walnut Springs to check out Blackie's Bait Shop for ourselves after receiving high recommendations. What a great place! Dobber, the owner, is so cordial and friendly. Speaks to everyone before heading to the kitchen to cook your delicious steaks! After the meal, cross the street for Blackie's After Dark for an entertaining night at the piano bar, then stay upstairs for a restful night of sleep. All conveniently located. We had a great time!”

“One of my favorite places to stop in for a burger and fries when I'm out for a ride on the bike, love going here because with my disability it is nice and quiet and I don't have to deal with lots of noise like most restaurants and I'm supposed to be traveling with my service dog for my seizures and alot of the other places want to give flak over service dogs even though it's against the the law for registered service dogs. Never had that issue here. I lost my older service dog and now have a new one who is now fully registered and ready to start her on riding with me also. She does great in car everywhere we go, So if you're disabled you will love this place for a quick easy place if you're out and don't want to deal with waiting at other places, my anxieties get to me in crowded places and I live in glen rose and I'll ride all the way to walnut springs just for a burger at this store because I don't like crowded places.”

“The owners here are very very friendly! Very nice and accompanying. Its a little hard to find and out in the country but the drive there is nice and pretty. If you're delivering here they do have plenty of space once you are on the property. They do close early so be aware. Around 3:30 i think. Anyways they are very friendly and It was a sincer pleasure meeting them. Good people great product!”

“We had a BLT with onion rings, the Tavern Burger, and a patron margarita on the rocks. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, and the food was great! The onion rings weren’t on the menu that I saw but OMG! They’re a must. I definitely need to go back to try more of the menu 🤤”

“Such a cute house. Looks small from the outside but has so much space inside. Everything is decorated with the cutest decor and you constantly find something you didn't see the first, second, or third walk by. Fully stocked with anything needed from towels, shampoo, body wash, coffee, snacks, dishes, everything. Such a gorgeous view on the deck of the sunrise and sunset. Very quiet and serene. Would definitely go back, wish I never had to leave!”

“Great smoked meat! I love finding these little out of the way places! Turkey has great smoked flavor. I often encounter this meat too dry with only a hint of smoked flavor, but this is juicy and full of flavor! Sausage is delicious, and the brisket is wonderful without being too fatty. Normally I don’t like the sauce too sweet, but despite being on the sweeter side, it has a nice light tang with a little bite to even out the sweetness. Pinto beans were good, but could have used a hint of salt to taste. Toast could have used a touch of warm butter when served, but I also arrived at the end of the day. Service was polite and prompt. Overall excellent bbq. My biggest problem is fighting off a food coma getting back on the road.”
