I was there on Memorial Day. Everyone there is a hero. All that are buried there died defending our country and our freedom. We would not be the country we are today if it wasn't for these brave souls who sacrificed everything so that we can wake up in the morning and watch the sun rise. We need to always remember what they have done for us. One day a year is so little to ask for

Well maintained serene place to reflect on sacrifices of veterans from many wars. Also contains excellent monument erected by the State of Minnesota to commemorate Union war dead.

I visited the grave of my 3rd-great uncle John E. Cassel, who served as a musician in Co. B, 74th Indiana, Army of the Cumberland (née Ohio). He contracted typhoid fever during the march from Perryville to Gallatin after the Battle of Perryville in October 1862 where his regiment was held in reserve.

His health and spirits improved enough to join his unit during the Tullahoma Campaign, but he immediately contracted bronchitis and typhoid fever, and eventually succumbed at Cumberland U.S. General Hospital in Nashville, TN on October 3, 1863 at age 19, 400 miles south of his home. He is buried here alongside his comrades from the Army of the Cumberland.

Well kept place of Honor. My best friend is buried here. It gives me great peace to know that his Country loves him as much as he loved his Country. Rest in Peace dear friend.
