Manayunk Canal

Address: 5000 E Flat Rock Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19127, USA

Park

“I am happy Manayunk Canal is my neighbor area. I wish there were more benches, but less bikers during busy hours. At least, bikers ride bike in slower speed for the safety of people, especially kids. Because the trail is not that wide so I was scared by bikers from my behind. This is why I rated 4 stars.”

Upper Roxborough Reservoir Preserve

Address: Port Royal Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA

Park

“I spend a lot time here with my best friends. The reservoir is a nature spot right in the middle of Roxborough. It is kept by volunteers it's a beautiful spot to walk the dogs take a run checkout the view of the Centre City Skyline. Early mornings are great but not to early if you are walking a pet. There are sometimes wildlife close by. I would not recommend going alone. Not that it is not safe but these days things happen everywhere. You are off the main road and you never know what kind of wildlife you might encounter.”

Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education

Address: 8480 Hagys Mill Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA

Park School

“It’s a nice little place to walk around. Environmental center is open from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday for kids education. The trails surrounding it are open dawn to dusk though although you can’t drive back to the environmental center you have to park a little bit of the street in the lot. There are a few cool stone carvings back there, a pond in which they are trying to regrow Cattails! There is also remnants of an old Spring House that is from the colonial era on one of the trails.”

Wissahickon Creek Trailhead

Address: 6091-6099 Jannette St, Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA

Park

“The park never disappoints. Living in Philadelphia during all four seasons makes it always interesting to walk, run or even crawl through the trail system. The park has so many interesting places to go and features to see. Today my running group went to lovers leap, the Lincoln drive trail, Forbidden drive, and the toleration statue. If you are on the fence about visiting this part of the park be reassured that the paths are well traveled and well marked and above all else the views are well worth your time.”

The Schuykill Center

Address: 8480 Hagys Mill Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA

Park

“Wonderful little place back in the wissahickon. The center itself teaches kids, mostly about nature and has many different structures there, some new some very old, including a time capsule, an old spring house and a few sculptures. While the road leading back the the Schuylkill center closes at 5 daily. There is a small lot right up the street to park in if you would like to walk the trails which are open dawn-dusk. Also, they have massive solar panels in the parking lot leading me to believe the building is strictly solar powered, but I’m not certain.”

Houston Playground

Address: 900 Grakyn Ln, Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA

Park

“Took my 2 daughters here. They had a blast. Lots of other kids came, too. It's a little run down, but charmingly so. The splash pad will be a good time when next we go. The walking tail does have a bit of poison ivy, so be careful, but it's a quaint little park with other facilities there, too.”
