Appleford

Address: 770 Mt Moro Rd, Villanova, PA 19085, USA

Park

“This historic house is located on absolutely beautiful grounds. Our daughter and her husband-to-be chose it in great part because of the grounds. Unfortunately, the weather was unsettled on her wedding day - but we were still able to grab about 30 minutes to have the ceremony outside as she had pictured it. The staff here were all very helpful and made the day go smoothly. The reception was held under their large tent, on the outside porch, and it could not have been more lovely. It's worth noting that Appleford is located in a residential area, so the noise level of the band had to be carefully monitored; however, none of our guests complained that the band wasn't loud enough!”

Ashbridge Park

Address: 1301 Montgomery Ave, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010, USA

Park

“This wonderful park has a lot to offer. It has a large fenced in playground area that is divided into two separate parts to keep the little children separated from the bigger kids. The playgrounds has a host of playing equipment and swings including swings for handicapped accessibility. The center of the playground has picnic tables that have a cover over them. The park has bathrooms, a drinking fountain, two tennis courts, open fields for play and more picnic tables under a large tree. The park has walking paths. The walking paths near the playground are paved while the walking paths on the southern and eastern edges are crushed stone. If you follow the crushed stone path to the northeast side side of the park you will see a sign providing information about creek restoration work. There are trails through the small wooded are to the creek where you can see the Ashbidge Creek Restoration. If you are planning on playing a game at the park on a Sunday be aware they have a sign posted on the tennis courts that reads in part "Sunday games of any kind are prohibited ..."”

Natural Lands' Saunders Woods Preserve

Address: 1020 Waverly Rd, Gladwyne, PA 19035, USA

Park

“This small, 25 acre, preserve in located in the heart of the Main Line is has a few miles of hiking trails. Nearest the parking are is an open meadow which is surrounded by woodlands. Off the northern corner of the preserve the trail crosses a creek and connects to another trail that runs along the creek until it reaches Conshohocken State Road (be very careful crossing as the cars come crazy fast around the corner). Across the road the trail continues as part of Henry Lane Park. Within the preserve there are several trails some that go by the new saplings plantings, some through more established tree plantings, older forest and along a creek that flows into the Schuylkill River and some through the meadow. There scattered about the meadow are benches and bird houses. On the eastern part of the preserve is a 19th century barn and spring house. It looks like the preserve is working hard on reducing invasive vines and other invasive plants. The main thing this preserve could improve is adding trail markers (could be as simple as those they have at Natural Lands Mariton, ChesLen, Stroud or Sadsbury Woods).”
