“Beautiful old house set on 25 acres north of Gettysburg about 15 miles. It is out in the boonies so at night we got lost a few times trying to find our way out and the internet is spotty. We were put up in one of the outside rooms (see photo) of which there are two attached to one another. It was very small and old and smelled musty when we first arrived, but it is situated in the woods so that's a given. We also had a few problems with spiders and bugs but nothing dangerous. Carol, the host, made us a delicious very-filling breakfast every morning and was more than accommodating. I would recommend this place if you're wanting peace and quiet and don't mind driving 15-20 min. to Gettysburg.”

“This is our first season here and we’re having an awesome time. We love to hike and bike and be outdoors and this is the perfect location to be in the middle of it all. We have met a lot of great people already and there is definitely a family atmosphere. The owners are very friendly and helpful and are dedicated to make our experience here enjoyable. They provide awesome entertainment with musical bands and meals. There is always something going on here. My wife and I are so excited to be here and we’re looking forward to all the great things they have planned. We highly recommend Pine Ridge Campground.”

“A great retreat facility. Most rooms have four beds, so there it is possible to host a group of forty. Large meeting spaces, a kitchen, and access to sport fields and courts.”

“My husband and I have stayed here twice so far and have loved it both times. The innkeepers are wonderful and hospitable people. The entire mansion and rooms are beautiful, the food is fantastic, the town is quaint. I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed our stays here. We hope to have many more!! I highly recommend the Bechtel Victorian Mansion B&B. Kym Zollitsch”

“3rd time camping here. Sites are a little tight, but we weren't bothered once by anyone, including rangers. If you need space for more than 1 tent, I suggest getting a site on the outer edge so you can go further into the woods, instead of being isolated to the small plots. The bath house is fair. Hot water, and space to get cleaned up. Dish washing sink on the outside was up and running too. Fire pit was good and allowed for some level grate cooking. We don't look for any amenities except land and isolation, so it was fine.”

“Coming back to my old hometown of Gettysburg after many years away was made extra special by the wonderful hospitality of Chris and Todd, who couldn't have been nicer or more attentive to our every need. Our cottage was pretty, furnished with antiques but with every modern convenience, spacious, spotless, and welcoming after a busy day, all at a very reasonable price. When we arrived we were greeted with a bottle of wine, a bowl of fresh local apples, and a fridge full of beverages and snacks. When we left after a week, we had made 2 new friends in our lovely hosts. Thank you! We'll be back soon!”

“Very nice atmosphere and accommodations. An older building that has just recently updated interior but the old world charm was retained. Our room was very comfortable and had a huge walk-in shower. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Flavor of our supper was very good and some unusual offerings (turtle soup).”

“As a special birthday gift for my husband, I booked a room for us at the Cashtown Inn. He loved it! He had a choice of 4 rooms(aptly named for the Civil War generals who used them as offices) or 3 suites. He chose a room where the general actually slept due to illness during the war. We also were hoping for dinner the evening we arrived but found out that the restaurant is only open certain evenings during the winter months. As disappointment set in, an email arrived from Jack, the owner, offering to provide dinner for us and a relative who lives nearby. After several emails to provide us with a list of entrees and sides and to verify our selections, five of us sat down to a wonderful dinner in the charming dining room, with a toasty fire adding to the rustic ambiance. After dinner Jack opened the Robert E. Lee suite for us to use for visiting with our guests. We enjoyed a delightful evening(with no ghost sightings) and our visit culminated with a tasty breakfast the next morning prior to checkout. We could not have asked for a more accommodating host. If you are looking for that one-of-a-kind get-away, and if you are a Civil War buff, this is the place you will want to stay!More”
