“Each week my piano lessons with Norm are fun. He’s a great teacher. As an adult beginner, I've been doing lessons 2 years and my progress is good. I'm learning to read music faster than I expected. Each week we work on new songs as well as review my favorites. Norm is so knowledgeable about all aspects of music. He really enjoys teaching. I’m always relaxed at the lessons, and we progress at a comfortable rate. There’s always something new to learn, new songs in different styles, blues improvisation, playing by ear. I really enjoy it all.”

When the first fabric wasn't available due to covid supply problems, they were happy to let us pick out second one without changing the total cost of things. The new upholstery looks better than the original and fits right in with the rest of our furniture now. We just love it and would recommend guaranteed upholstery to anyone.”

“I got 2 chicken tacos ($1.50/ea) and an Al Pastor burrito ($7). -Chicken tacos: Good amount of cilantro and the green sauce was good but it's like dry grilled shredded chicken breast instead of braised meat so it's not that good even with a lot of sauce. It did come with 2 lime wedges 1 for each taco so that's nice -Burrito: Good portion size. I've had more flavorful burritos, even with the sauce it was still mostly beans and rice. I wish there was more meat or maybe some pico de Gallo to brighten it up. Very heavy felt like I couldn't move after eating the whole thing. TL:DR: Mid food, fast service, big portions for price”

“Amateur knitter here. Great store with a variety of yarn, needles, and trinkets. Staff give a warm greeting, then let you shop, but not in an avoidance manner, more like "we respect your privacy". Employees give simple, honest advice without asking snobby questions that make you feel inadequate (like other yarn stores I've been to in pdx). Great stuff for any budget, especially those who are trying to expand their hobby without going crazy on their budget.”

The only negative criticism I have is that the store looks rather dim and shabby both from the outside and inside. “We recently got to work with Brendan again, this is our second time, and just like the first time he was absolutely amazing. His work is outstanding, and he’s an excellent communicator and teacher. He’s always willing to show us what he’s doing or teach us something even if it’s unrelated to the job at hand. This time he was doing the stairs, but on a lark we asked some insulation questions and the next day he brought over a bunch of insulation kit, showed us how to use it, installed it, and because he knows we’re very price conscious, he offered and then instructed us on exactly how to clean up and close up the walls so he could get back to the real project. We’ve learned a lot from him and visitors pretty much always comment about how cool his projects are. He thinks about things differently and is willing to break the mold to make a solution that really works for you. In our first project we asked him to build in a cat litter area with an outside vent and a super quiet bathroom fan; I can’t imagine many contractors that would do such a weird thing, but it has been a life changer and he never batted an eye. He just joined in on the brainstorming and made the idea even cooler by making it two story and adding a little spiral staircase! This is our second time with him, so I can say with certainty that we will be calling on him again for our next projects.”
