True story. I met Glenn, the chef and owner of Edgar's, and his then-fiancee now-wife, 30 years ago on Martha's Vineyard when he was just beginning his culinary journey. Since then, I hadn't seen or talked to him until I got invited to join a buddy of mine at Edgar's for a drink in February just before the Super Bowl. Being relatively new to the Akron area, I wasn't aware of what great food I had been missing out on and that Glenn's and my paths had crossed 30 years earlier. We recently recreated the picture from our fun times on the Vineyard (that's us in the upper right hand corner) and I have become a regular at Edgar's because of it's warm and welcoming vibe (what the TV show Cheers would be like if it were set in Akron overlooking a public golf course with a killer sunset view), great bartenders, great service and, of course, fantastic food. Chef's kiss. It's all about the food. I recently shared Jamaican BBQ Wings, Plantains with lemon and ginger, and baked Grouper (a Ghanaian recipe) with my daughter, and we both were impressed with how perfectly seasoned everything was. We even got hot, freshly baked bread brought to our table by our gracious server, Marshall. That was the evening of Tuesday March 7. The following evening, I met another buddy of mine at Edgar's. I had the Plantains again (did not disappoint one bit), a bowl of Gumbo that reminded me of grandma's Gumbo from way back in the day, warm bread, and lemoncillo cheesecake. Everything was on point. If you have never been to Edgar's, do yourself a favor and get there ASAP. Bring your appetite. The food is very reasonably priced given its high quality. Old skool music serves as a nice backdrop to the amazing dining experience. On Friday evening there is a live DJ after 9:00 and on some Saturdays there is a live band (you have to make reservations and pay a cover charge if you want to be close to the performers). Finally, Edgar's is a great place to host an event on their patio during the warmer months of Northeast Ohio. I am planning to have my birthday party on June 10th. I can't wait to gather friends and family for a celebration that includes great food, drinks, music, golf (if you want to get in 18 holes) and and a westward vista that includes a killer view of the orange glow of the sunsetting on the patio of Edgar's restaurant and bar. Five stars for sure.

Smoked prime rib, best ever. Nice char. Spicy green beans weren't spicy but fresh. White French dressing is very good, salad cold and crisp. Ran out of Liver & Onions. (bummer for mom). Desert was great chocolate cake and like a lemon mousse cake? Service was excellent (Ben?). Had a podcast on Thursday until around 6:00 which was really annoying as it was loud and hard to hear ourselves talk so come later. Music followed with DJ. Good soul (Throwback Thursday). Again, a little loud for us but most of the growing crowd enjoyed it.

First time dining at Edgars restaurant. The food was amazing. I had the liver and onions it was so well prepared. My wife had the Grouper salad, she said it was delicious. Our waitress Sarah was so nice and helpful. Beautiful restaurant with amazing views of the golf course.

Happened upon this gem while visiting friends in Akron. The staff was amazing but the plus was our waitress who happened to also be the manager on duty. She was so delight and suggested some great dishes. Pictured is the stuffed Catfish. 😍 I recommend 👌

I loved the band but my only dislike was the house music. The volume was quite loud at times which caused us to practically scream at one another. Once the band was ready, the house music was off for what seemed to be the remainder of our time at the location.

I visited Edgar's for the first time and definitely plan on making more visits in the future.

The staff is very professional and prompt with service. Our waitress Cami (apologies if it is not spelled correctly 😊) was AMAZING! Her attentiveness, patience, and service was nothing less than perfect.

I ordered the stuffed catfish. LAWD HELP MEEEEEEEEE!! My mouth has never experienced such harmony with the combination of shrimp, catfish, and crab topped with sauteed asparagus and a sprinkle of black beans. I purposely saved half so I could relish in this dish later at home.

To enhance my gastronomic experience even further, I dared to order the baklava cheesecake for dessert. Somebody STOP ME!
    The combination is deeeeelish.

A great meal complimented with an ambiance that is relaxing yet upscale and classy. I would recommend Edgar's to anyone who is looking for this type of experience.
