Rest Haven Memorial Park

Cemetery Park

“Rest Haven Memorial Park is a beautiful and serene place for departed loved ones and families to visit. The landscaped grounds, various waterfalls and facilities interiors are well maintained and quite beautiful. My entire family is from Cincinnati. My Parents' and many extended family members are at rest here. My Dad's full Naval Military service in 2019 was very satisfactory as I'm sure he was there, both proud and humbled by it all. The staff is wonderful, very accommodating and friendly. My friends', Dana and Karen on staff are warm, fantastic people who are always willing to go out of their way to help one out. I was glad to visit with them on a recent trip through Cincinnati with my Sister. We enjoyed visiting and praying to our dear loved ones again. I was also glad to finally find our Paternal Great-Grand Parents' site. I intend to be laid to rest here with family one day.”

T. M. Berry International Friendship Park

Address: 1135 Riverside Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45202, USA

Park

“My husband and I were going to picnic at a park down the street from here, but thanks to a swarm of sports fans attending Bengals Training Camp, we couldn't go to that park and had to find another. The International Friendship Park was a few minutes away, and it was our first visit. Part of the parking lot is cut off, but there was enough parking, and that's considering that it was a Saturday afternoon and there were multiple joggers, dog walkers, cyclists, and a wedding party taking photos. Other than crisscrossing pathways, there are benches, trash cans, and a few odd structures to see. We picnicked close to the Castle of Air, which is the mirrored structure in the photos attached to this review. The park seems to be themed around various parts of the world, but it wasn't entirely clear why or what was unique about each section. I should mention that the far left (if you're facing the river) part of the park seems unfinished. It's mostly unwieldy grass surrounding a worn pathway, and upon walking through it to the other side, we discovered a shaded area with a building that was reserved for some event. So the park does feel unfinished and a little exclusionary. Overall, this was a decent park that provided my husband some opportunities for photography, but its theming isn't clear and it does seem to be grasping to find its own identity. Still, not a bad way to spend an hour or two if you love parks with paved places to walk or play.”

Winton Woods

Address: 10245 Winton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231, USA

Park

“We have stayed here before in deluxe cabins, but those have been removed. The rustic cabins have AC and power, and can sleep 5 adults (2 twins, a full and a twin bunk above the full). There is plenty of room for a queen air mattress or an additional table if you bring one. Porch has two plastic chairs, not most comfortable. There is a fire ring and picnic table. The camp ground is very well maintained, has a good playground. One shower house for everyone, but it has great water pressure and water temps. Lots of things to do in the park to keep kids and adults happy and busy. The camp sites are really nice and shaded The RV sites are level and they do have full hookup sites available and a dump station. Definitely worth a stay however you can manage it, even as a weekend get a way if you are local.”

California Woods Nature Preserve

Address: 5400 Kellogg Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45230, USA

Park

“I’ve been waiting a while to review California Woods because I wanted to have the right words to express how much I love this place. It’s kind of out of the way for a lot of people I think, which means there’s never too many people here. I like it that way because you can always come here to enjoy solitude. A lot of parks I go to don’t have trees that are very large. This place has massive trees. They make me feel so small and evoke a sense of wonder in me. There is a such depth to the topography as well. The high ridges and deep ravines create this sense of contrast of altitude which makes the forest seem so expansive, while the canopy above makes it feel like sanctuary. It’s so nourishing for the soul. And if you have the chance, walk the meadow trail to see the big wild meadow where hummingbirds, dragonflies and butterflies abound. It’s magical! Also, walk across the rocks and pause to hear the babbling brook. There’s so much variety hear. I couldn’t fit it all into one review.”

There is usually a nice breeze off the river and seating along the river side to watch the barges pass. There is also a nice playground for the kiddos. When the weather is nice, there is a brewery and a restaurant on the other side of the road open spring and summer for lunch and dinner.”

Dogwood Park

Address: Dogwood Park, 3706 Pleasant St, Cincinnati, OH 45227, USA

Park

“There a bell tower that plays 1.5 hour music shows on Sundays at 2pm starting on the first weekend of June. There's a picnic shelter and child play place next to 2 open baseball diamond fields. The bell tower first floor is a restroom for men and women should you need that convenience. Limited parking, about 5 spots plus 1 handicap spot so do not count on parking. The park is about 6 minute walk from the heart of the town and you can park in the town.”

Winton Woods Campground

Address: 651 Lakeview Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45231, USA

Campground Lodging Park

“Probably the best RV Campground in the area! I've stayed at a number of campgrounds within 50 miles or so of Cincinnati, and in my opinion , none of them match up to this one. Beautifully scenic, we were able to book one of the sites on a paved road with full hook-ups and a concrete pad. Hook-ups were easily accessible and the pad was nearly perfectly level. Lots of grassy, well-kept space between the sites as well. Numerous hike and bike trails and easy access to all of the amenities of Winton Woods Park. We will certainly make this our number one campground in the area!”

Buttercup Valley Preserve

Address: 1558 Stanford Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45223, USA

“Very pretty little nature reserve right in the middle of the city. It is shockingly quiet and peaceful. We only saw one other person out hiking the trails. The preserve is pet-friendly and has lots of pretty bridges and a small river you can play in. The entrances are kind of hidden in neighborhoods with street parking only.”
