Historic home converted into a B&B. Owners are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is great. They definitely go all out on the Christmas decorations too.

My good friend from out of town booked this lovely inn to stay at while visiting me here. I didn't get the chance to stay overnight, however Rodger (one of the hosts) was kind enough to allow me to hang about the house every day. It truly is a wonderful place that is flawlessly kept to its original character. It's incredibly rare to find such a beautifully preserved gem these days. If you have any appreciation for historical buildings and objects, you'd do yourself an immense favor coming here. The entire house is filled with interesting antiques; quite fitting as the hosts run the Delaware Antique Mall. There is also a serene garden on the property. Entire days of your stay can be dedicated to relishing in this house's charm.

As the rest of the reviews have mentioned, the multiple course breakfasts were absolutely delicious and filling. Rodger himself prepared them every morning, and both the food and the overall experience was restaurant-quality. Breakfast was always served on tasteful china and coffee was presented in an antique glass coffee pot, warmed by a tea light at the bottom.

Additionally, I loved the homely attitude here. There was a very polite dog staying at the inn while we were there, and Rodger allowed us to stay at the Carriage House for no extra charge when we were experiencing some temporary difficulties regarding the AC in the main house.

All in all it's a very cozy yet beautiful place to be. I miss it already.

Good stay & breakfast, would stop there again. The cottage offers large and private accommodation and unusual decor. There's an old house odor that did not bother my husband but I was very aware. Main house areas were interesting and cluttered with boxes and personal items. Our host was friendly and breakfast tasty, although he was interrupted constantly by phone calls. If you stay here you're treated like one of the family, so don't expect formality. It was a treat to be so close to stores and restaurants for an evening stroll. Nice town!

Great location, charming atmosphere and superior service! We had a wonderful stay in the carriage house. It has a separate bedroom with French doors, large sitting room and small dining area, with sink, mini fridge and microwave oven. The sitting room also has a small bed. The bathroom has a walk in shower. The rooms are up a narrow flight of steps on the second floor of the carriage house. Plenty of windows and two small porches.
Breakfast is in the main house in a beautiful dining room. Everything you would expect in an old, old Victorian. Lots of overstuffed furniture, plenty of knickknacks, and many interesting clocks. We looked at the bedrooms in the main house and they appeared comfortable and cozy. Don’t expect the crispness of a purpose built hotel. This is a home.
The inn is conveniently located in town and you can walk everywhere. Being a college town, there is plenty to see and do.
This inn has so much to recommend it. Best of all is the terrific service. Rodger is very attentive and helpful, as well as a great chef! Breakfasts are a feast! If you ask, Rodger will share with you information about the town, the home’s history and prior residents.
This is the place to stay in Delaware.
