“I heard about the camp from another family whose daughter attended and raved about it. My son participated in the virtual camp last summer and really enjoyed it. This year the camp is in-person. I was a bit apprehensive about how my 6-year old son would handle the full day camp (8:45am-4pm). However, my worries were gone after he consistently rated the camp a 10/10. My son has done many fun projects in chemistry, engineering, and art. He also enjoyed the add-on classes, “Mind Games” and “Robotics”. His afternoon activities at the private beach at Crestwood Lake ranged from building sand castles to playing in the lake. Campers get treats from the ice cream truck every Friday. The last day of his 3-week camp session was memorable - talent show, bounce house, pizza party and ice cream!!! It has been a truly incredible experience. My son met many smart and friendly campers. Thanks to all of the staff, and special thanks to his counselors, Alexandra, Anna, Lydia and Mason! He is looking forward to joining the camp again next summer!”

“My real name is Zachary. About 15 years ago, I was a child. I was raised by a single mother, we were kicked out of dozens of apartments and struggled to eat. At the time, I was too young to understand anything and took a bit of aging to understand what was going on around me. My mother raised three children by herself. My brother and I had the same father, but our sister had a different dad. Our father left before I was born. My mom was telling me how I shouldn’t have been born. I feel very lucky to be where I am today, to be alive. At one time we failed to pay the rent, my brother and I were scared because our mom was deeply upset. I remember this building in the picture, I had no idea why we were here. Kathy saved us, and this foundation has saved many lives. People do not understand how extreme poverty can become in inner city neighborhoods. Childhood poverty was rampant, and I was just another statistic. Kathy is a woman of god, she is sympathetic. It was her decision to open this place to help others. We must recognize her selflessness and the so many lives she has touched.”

“Dr Syed was great but she left. Dr Bernardo is very good and seems thorough. Being from down south the doctors and medical practices in general are way different. Having to wait outside for someone to take your temperature I think is a bit much and it seems to be overly exaggerated. I mean people go there sick right? Does it matter if I go another 10 feet to the window where we all have masks and plexiglass is between? Standing in the hallway seems stupid. I do not like having to have a separate appointment for bloodwork. I have to take off work twice. Down south you see the doctor and do bloodwork together and if an adjustment in medicine is needed the do it. Hate taking 2 days off work. Otherwise easy to get too and Walgreens is right near it so it is convenient.”
