Beautiful place. So much information and videos to watch. Nice shop. Really nice employees. It was a hot day so walking to the school was a push. I did not know you could drive. The lot is on the side road to the school.

One of the most interactive historical experiences. Great, personal stories from homesteaders, equipment and historical items, and beautiful scenery. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Awesome experience!

Such an incredible place. The visitors center was so cool and informative. I loved seeing the paperwork and details about how homesteading worked. We learned about how it was advertised all over the world for "free land" 160 million acres of land were honesteaded. Much of that was to immigrants. What a different attitude we had back then.

We also checked out the education center. They have a room full of farming implements from the 1800s.

We learned so much visiting Homestead National Historical Park.

We weren't sure if it would be worth the trip out of our way, but I wanted the stamp for my NP Passport. It was absolutely our favorite National Monument so far. All three sites (new center, original center, and schoolhouse) were well kept and well staffed. There we're many short videos and audio guides that kept us all learning and listening. Our 6 year old loved exploring the prairie too. There were many paths to explore and a trail from one visitor center to the other.

And both boys enjoyed becoming junior rangers through their guide book activities. (It was one of the best programs we've done, and we've made it to many parks!) The rangers were very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this site. You won't regret it.

Very nice place to visit, and free! They frequently have quality programs, living history demonstrators and performers like Jack Gladstone, an eloquent historian, story teller and musician. The prairie and Woodlands that surrounds a riparian zone are great for those who appreciate flora and fauna of the Midwest.
