“Great park in the heart of town for everyone to enjoy. Lots of great events hosted here. The parking can be a little hard when there are lots of people showing up for an event and the roads right by it can get busy then too. The playground is nice and there is lots of area to spend time and do activities or just relax.”

“Wonderful Soda Fountain / Ice Cream Shop / Restaurant / Florist Shop in the heart of downtown Elsberry. I ordered a Rachel with a Coca-Cola Phosphate for lunch, both were delicious. Service was excellent. Atmosphere and decor are nostalgic. They even have a couple pinball machines in back. Great local treasure and perfect venue for grabbing a tasty bite to eat, or old fashioned malt, shake, or soda float.”

“I heard Penrod’s has great meat from my daughter who lives nearby. We just moved to Elsberry and was thrilled it to discover it has a butcher shop! YAY! But, dang! I thought the prices would be astronomical considering it’s a small town. But, no. They have meat that is so affordably packaged by friendly faces on the other side of the counter! And let’s talk about that meat! $2.99 a pound (currently) for pork steaks that melt in your mouth! YUM!! I picked up a couple of Ribeyes. We look forward to grilling them. Lastly, let me say that I adore great customer service and it’s in abundance at Penrod’s. They are obviously proud of their little store. Small towns are the best! I included a picture of The Senate movie theatre (the oldest operating theatre in the Missouri from what I understand.) Come check out Elsberry and get some great meat affordably priced at Penrod’s! Thank you to your entire staff. (Some customers were inside and wanted their picture taken too. Hi guys!)”

“Cashiers are polite. They are knowledable about their job. The store, although new, has become crowded. It is, however, organized. Just inventory racks in the isles. Which makes it difficult to get down the isles with a car. And if there are 2 customers going down 1 isle that can be tricky. Their shelves are usually organized. And things are in their place. It is just too cramped. They do have a clean public restroom.”

“As we were driving through the area for the first time, the check engine light was on and the driver wanted to stop so I could check it out and make sure the trip home would be safe. After making sure we were able to drive on, we decided to find out if we could find a restroom before we got back on the road. There was a large party going on in the building to the north of the property. I walked down and found the office and rang the bell to find the manager. The manager was happy to help us out and opened the game room next to the large event room, so we were able to continue on our way. The parking lot was full and the people were going on and out and from what we could see, the facility seemed very nice. The game room was kept up and the pool table, etc. all looked in very good condition. Having never been through the area, we didn't know if there were other places to stop. Thanks to the graciousness of the manager we had a much better trip home! Relieved the stress of not knowing about the engine and the pressure of full bladders, we drove away happy we stopped there.”
