Crystal Beach

Address: 1101 Crystal Lake Rd E, Burnsville, MN 55306, USA

Park

“Nice public beach! Pros: Great sandy area , roped off swim area with gentle slope into deeper water, play structure, volleyball, restroom facilities, concession stand (after noon in summer) plenty of shade options. Cons: a little messy for a weekday morning, playground is removed from lake area so its not super feasible to have littles doing both the playground and swimming at the same time and maintain supervision. I could see this park getting very busy on weekends.”

Crystal Lake West

Address: 11 Crystal Lake Rd E, Burnsville, MN 55306, USA

Park

“Love crystal lake! Great fishing and boating. Boat ramp could use a bit of work as it makes boat launching a bit difficult.”

North River Hills Park

Address: 19th Ave, Burnsville, MN 55337, USA

Park

“Fields of all sorts were there the grass was well maintained. The fields even had watering systems. That is kind of negative as well, because a wet soccer ball can mess up your kicks a bit. I could also see how people might trip over them, but I liked the idea. When I was leaving the place even had a grounds keeper picking up trash at the playground area. There us a sign stating that the playing is only for children. I saw a nice porter potty, but I thought I also saw a building for /etc. I plan on going back sometime to play some more soccer if it is not crowded. I was there pretty early in the morning.”

There a nice playground for the kids. Park connects to Crystal Lake Park, Keller Lake, and the Lac Lavon athletic complex.”

Watch your bags as the ants are abundant. The sledding hill is huge. You'll have quite the ride down and a nice long hike back up. There is an ice house with two skating rinks nearby. Plenty of parking.”

Alimagnet Dog Park

Address: 1200 Alimagnet Pkwy #2, Burnsville, MN 55337, USA

Park

“Revised 12/01/2021. I've been bringing my Corgis here for about a year and I have added a star. We pay the annual fee at a couple other parks but almost always choose to take our dogs to Alimagnet. Sure, it's the closest to us but there's also a couple other things I've noticed that make this park better than the others [1] - Ample waste bins. There are a lot scattered around the park. I'm pretty sure these are maintained (emptied) by patrons and volunteers so do your part and take them to the entrance if they're full. Most other parks have bins only at the entrance/exit. [2] - Heated shelters for humans. If you're the type that likes to stand in one place and be somewhat comfortable on those cold and windy days, it's definitely a plus. [3] - Occasional events. Sometimes you'll be able to buy ice cream for yourself and/or your furry companion...bonus! [4] - People working in the background to keep the park clean, safe, and hospitable. I don't know who you all are but thank you. I have read some other reviews and I don't necessarily agree that Alimagnet is less clean or that owners are less mindful of their pets. Good practice at any park is to clean up a mess if you see one even if it's not yours. If you didn't realize that it's not always possible to know what your dog is doing 100% of the time, you're relatively new to dog ownership :) I have experienced a couple dogs getting overly excited but wouldn't classify it as a pattern or unique to this park. There's a 'small' dog meeting area at the entrance and a 0.4 mile fenced in loop around a small pond with a sign posted that the water can become stagnate and dangerous to dogs during warmer months. Because the water area is separate from the rest of the park, it is possible to keep your dog out of that area altogether which is nice if they lack willpower like mine do. Opposite the entrance, there's a larger area for more energetic or bigger dogs to play and fetch; this is usually devoid of any grass as it gets trampled daily so on wet days, prepare your dog bath ahead of time. Gates by the entrance and outside the large dog play area help contain your dog but the overall area is small enough that you don't have to worry about completely losing track of your furry friend. There are usually free pet waste bags supplied by a local pet store and I've gone at various times and haven't encountered overcrowding. Also, it's (1) FREE and (2) convenient and thus the perfect place for my stubby 6 month old corgi who is now over a year and my new 6 month old corgi.”

Rudy Kraemer Nature Preserve

Address: 12799 Chowen Ave S, Burnsville, MN 55337, USA

Park

“Nice length trail for a walk or a light run - full loop is about 2 miles but you could probably stretch it to three by taking every little loop there is. The bridge through the water is a nice feature. There is also a nice section through the woods on the south end at the bottom of the hill. You can link up to a paved trail as well - not sure where that goes as I have not taken it but could help create a longer path if one needed. Lots of butterflies, birds, and standard wildlife about and lots of prairie wildflowers. Trail is well maintained. If you can't escape the city this is a good choice for a little nature stroll. Biggest negatives are the massive buzzing power lines and some of the noisy industry next to the preserve. Traffic from highway is quite audible as well.”
