Empowering Birth

We would highly recommend Sharon and Empowering Birth. This was our first child, and Sharon was with us every step of the way. She guided us through the creation of a comprehensive birth plan, which helped both me and my husband to be more comfortable as the due date approached.

When the big day arrived, Sharon was available for phone calls and texts in the preliminary stages, and then when we needed her at the hospital she was there right away! We found her presence especially helpful as we navigated the various medical decisions that needed to be made throughout the process - she was great at working with the doctors and nurses on site.

Even though we had a birth plan, Sharon was an important piece in the real-time decision making process. She did everything she could to keep me (mom) physically comfortable throughout labor, and gave my husband (dad) tons of tips on how to be helpful. It was a long day for everyone, and Sharon was there for as long as we needed her!

After the birth, she has also been a great resource and thought partner as we approach breast feeding, baby's health, and any other questions that we have.

We cannot recommend Sharon highly enough. Not only does she bring an incredible attitude and energy to the entire birth experience, but she’s also incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in the many ways to support mom and baby (and dad!). She is incredibly responsive as well, any time we had a question we felt comfortable sending her a text.

It is hard to picture what our labor would have been like without her; she was so hands on and really lead the charge, while also knowing when to back off and give us a little space. She also held the respect of our medical care team, with one provider stating “oh wow, we’ve got the dream team today with Sharon here.”

Within minutes of meeting Sharon, you’ll know that she is the perfect person to guide you through all the craziness and you’ll be forever changed by her support, kindness, and love.

Sharon was absolutely amazing and I would recommend her services to anyone. I am a first time mom and had a lot of nerves around labor but I ended up having such a great experience during labor and delivery. I attribute a lot of that to Sharon. She helped us communicate with all the different members of the medical team and recommended some position changes that I know helped my labor progress. She also just brought a great calming energy and some expertise that was invaluable.

I can't recommend the experience of having a doula enough, and working with Sharon specifically was one of the best choices I made for myself in the pregnancy and birth process. She has such enthusiasm for and knowledge of all things birth. It was so helpful to meet with her before hand and craft a birth plan ("plan" in quotations of course because the process is different for every parent and every baby). Sharon's support was absolutely invaluable to both my husband and myself in the hospital as well. Having her there was integral to a positive experience for me even when things diverged from the plan I had hoped for initially. I would absolutely work with her again and wholeheartedly recommend her services!

What an amazing experience! Sharon was top notch in her planning, care, and follow up during our pregnancy. My wife felt so supported, and noted that Sharon was critical to her labor and delivery process. Her energy and knowledge were world class, and she ensured we felt empowered and heard.
