“Unfortunately, both of our dogs needed emergency care within a few weeks of each other. Both times we were seen right away and the staff took great care. On the first visit our dog had bloat and torsion and we made the difficult decision of peace. The doctor was very honest but caring through our discussion. Our visit pre-procedure was very calm and when the doctor came in to help put her to rest, it was very peaceful and quick. The staff at the reception were very kind. On the second visit with our second dog, he had internal bleeding, probably from cancer. The vet was so sweet and caring as she listened to everything that happened that caused our concern. She explained our options thoroughly and was very sympathetic to us. Again we were given as much time as needed with him before our procedure. When it came time, the doctor explained everything that would happen and was wonderful throughout the entire experience. While the costs are high, emergencies happen and it's nice to have such a supportive and empathetic staff that do care about both pets and people.”

We had a hole and Faye was on a blanket we hoped to keep under her in the hole. These two women took charge and jumped in the hole to help us!!!!! Too much to expect but so very much appreciated!! Love Essex! Great decision to trust our horses with them.”

She is patient and understanding, well-educated, and experienced. She truly loves animals of all types and is very good about explaining what is needed and why. She listens to you and takes the time to make sure you are on board with her treatment plan. She is excellent at educating her clients as well. Rosario has come to my home so that my animals can be put to rest where they are happiest and surrounded by those that love them. “We have a suspicious, intact 70lb working line German Shepherd female, and she has proven problematic for a number of Vets we attempted to visit because of ideology rather than the behavior of our dog. That she is not spayed, that she is engaged in Protection Sports, and even that she is a German Shepherd has provoked some outright hostile judgments from people we are paying to look after the best interests of our animal. When we brought our pup to Harvard Vet there was no hasty grab for a muzzle, no hesitation, no lecture, nothing but a wonderful approach of ducking right into her side and checking her over and the dog responded immediately by calming down and accepting the exam. I lament the retirement of this outstanding Veterinarian, a man who is the closest to James Harriot that i will ever meet, and his straightforward approach to all animals, even the "scary" ones.”
