“My husband and I stay in the Jefferson room for one night to celebrate his birthday. This place is so beautiful, great location, very clean and our room was so nice. The innkeeper Melody was so kind and helpful and made us feel so at home and welcomed. She made us an exquisite breakfast in the morning and even sang happy birthday to my husband. She went above and beyond to make sure that we had a wonderful stay. I would highly recommend staying here. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely stay again.”

“Best unobstructed view of the Ohio River hands down. Great location. Comfy rooms with fireplaces, decks that go on forever( or so it seems!). And heated for the winter! Enjoyed staying at this timeless gem this past weekend while enjoying all the Madison Holiday festivities. I’ve stayed at the Riverboat many times and, again, it did not disappoint. Always refreshing to begin with a smooth and friendly check in! The room suited our needs very well! Kathy and her employees always go above and beyond! When expressing our disappointment in not finding a golf cart to rent in town(poor last minute planning on our part on this warm December weekend), Kathy had our problem solved in less than five minutes, with not one, BUT two golf carts to accommodate our group! Enjoyed the socializing and live music on the deck both evenings. Great band and so many friendly and welcoming people, guests and locals alike! Also enjoyed hearing about the latest updates that have been made in Kathy’s unrelentless efforts to always offer better and more! Best place to stay in Madison, hands down!”

“Clean comfortable rooms! Unlike some other hotels i have been to the sheets were changed, and bed made nicely!Beautiful outside area with grills, tables and fire pit. The best part is the staff in particular Lauren. She was very friendly, attentive, and helpful she definitely deserves a raise! You can't get a good review without friendly staff. All together I would definitely recommend this hotel. Oh the pool is very clean also! Good job!”

“I was working a lot so I pretty much just slept here, but the Lady who greeted me was very friendly and helpful. The room custodial crew was exceptional, the beds are firm which is perfect for me and the view overlooking the town is fabulous. My only constructive criticism would be the breakfast which was not what it was built up to be.”

“We decided to take a last minute weekend getaway to Madison, and Butterfly house had an opening that met our needs. We arrived to find a gorgeously appointed home with private, comfortable rooms and welcoming hosts. Theresa and Paul made us feel comfortable and at home. The rooms are divided by bathrooms, so there is no risk of hearing other guests. We chose the Magnolia suite for the king size bed, which was adjustable and very comfortable. The location is perfect: far enough away from the tourist district to be quiet and close enough to easily walk everywhere. Breakfast each morning is served at 8:30 and is perfectly delicious and nutritious. Theresa and Paul are also happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions as long as you let them know in advance. They do have 3 adorable, small dogs who will love you as much as you want or leave you alone as much as you want. The experience we had at Butterfly House helped us fall in love with Madison. I can’t wait to go back and stay at Butterfly House again!”

“Hidden Gem Sites are tight, but the ones over looking the river are worth it. We camped there in September 2020 and had a site along the Ohio River. We had our 2 German Shepherds with camping with us. We brought our Jet Skis and rode on the river for two days. I had pulled a muscle in my back when we first arrived. The camp hosts were super nice to us and brought our firewood to my site. The showers were nice and clean (especially for a city park). We had a great time and I look forward to going back.”
