“My daughter was admitted to the inpatient unit for PT OT and speech after a massive Brain bleed from late October to early December. When she arrived she was not able to sit up on her own, by the time she was discharged she was walking with a walker. Their therapist are all genuinely invested in their patients and their outcomes. We still go for outpatient therapy and see Kayla, April,Debbie, and Kate who are all so amazing. The nursing staff is very kind and empathetic. I would say if you are there are an extended period of time and orders get changed to double check with the nurses that they were implementing them. Sometimes they may get lost in translation. The weeks are so busy with therapy that by the ending of the week kids are exhausted. I did like that on weekends were very mellow to slow the kids to rest. Child life does a great job at learning what the kids hobbies are and then providing activities to fit that child. Dr Martinez Connie and Dan are amazing providers. We are so happy we chose Shriners’s Chicago for our daughter’s care and rehabilitation.”

“My father was brought into the ER when he stopped breathing and suffered cardiac arrest. The ER staff was amazingly supportive and straight forward in explaining that although his pulse and breathing restarted at the hospital, that his prognosis was grim. In the ICU his nurse Karen was as kind and supportive to us as anyone could be. She spoke to him by name as she cared for him. Stroked his hair and supported our grief as we said goodbye. Your Critical Care doctor ( I am sorry I do. It remember his name ) was kind and gentle in letting us know that my dad could not recover from this. For 12 hours he was kept comfortable and when he passed away it was peaceful. Your staff let us grieve and say our goodbyes. This was the worst day of my life— but your wonderful doctors and nurses made it bearable with their support. Thank you to each and every one of them”

“Came into ER once with family member on our own. Family member is a senior with several health issues. Waited in the ER for hours and ended up going home without seeing the doctor. Came in again twice with same family member in ambulance. The staff was attentive, but we were there over 12 hours before we got a room. The last time was by ambulance and it was only a few hours before getting a room. Once she was admitted the staff was very friendly and attentive. I guess it's the ER staff that needs an overhaul!”
