I remember coming from another piano teacher that did not take as much care to teach me the fundamentals of piano technique, and was shocked at how much there was to learn through her teaching. Over the years, I greatly improved on my technique, got to learn piano theory, and moved on from playing easier pieces to more technically/musically challenging works. Also, the multiple camps and other workshops, as well as festivals such as Federation and Local Auditions allowed me to hone my skills and have something to compete for. I even studied with Dr. Hawk over the years, playing cello under him at GYSO and learning theory and loved his energetic and passionate attitude towards music. Both the Hawks helped me foster my passion for music and develop it in a way that helped me appreciate the art of instruments so much more.”
