“I graduated in 2016. My older brothers also attended this school 13 years before me and had a horrible experience. Neither graduated and the younger was special needs and received no aid while he went through regular classes. I on the other hand had a wonderful experience with this school, it has drastically improved since my brothers time. The teachers are kind and compassionate, understanding and always willing to set time aside to help students. The after school activities are numerous and vary from sports to fun clubs and additional help with school work. Every staff member is glad to help. My only issue was when I broke my foot and was in crutches, still figuring out how to use them correctly, I would arrive at school almost an hour early because it would take me about 30 minutes to get to my 1st class. If a teacher saw me they would offer advice, but if one of the staff members on a golf cart went by they’d ignore me. It would have been nice to get a ride occasionally, especially to that first class as all others weren’t far from the 1st. Also I’d see the people on the carts give students a ride all the time and those students didn’t have anything like a brace or crutches. I get that the drivers probably had work to do, but a ride sometimes would still have been nice. I got only one and only because one of the stricter teachers wouldn’t take no for an answer from the guard who was rude to me when the teacher was gone and said he wouldn’t have given the ride if she hadn’t been there.”

“My son went to Rios K through half of 5th grade. We moved in 2015, but before we left it was a great school with amazing teachers. Obviously you aren't going to get great teachers every single year, but you learn to handle things. Office staff were always very nice and helpful. PTA is a good way to get involved with the school and parents. We deffinitely miss them. I went there as well in 1992-1994 and enjoyed it as a student. I had Ms. Karr then and my son had her during his time. She is a great teacher along with Ms. Woods, who was a very big influence in my son's school career. If we still lived in El Cajon my 2 younger kiddos would be attending Rios.”

“For many years now my siblings and I have been taking lessons from Evans for guitar, piano, ukulele, and accompanying vocals. Evans is incredibly skilled and versatile in all of these instruments and adapts his teaching style to each of our individual personalities, preferences, and goals. “This is a wonderful school. Being a teacher of 18 years I know quality education when I see it. The environment is well-kept and clean. Most importantly, the teachers here are wonderful professionals. Let me be more specific, they teach beyond the ABC'S, counting, tracing, etc. My son would come home and talk about echolocation and other fabulous, advanced topics. He progressed in all areas and was treated kindly and respectfully. I don't expect teachers to teach manners and behavior- that is our job as parents, but they still enforce great behavior. A few times when a child was unkind to my son I brought it up to the teacher and it didn't happen again. The teachers and administrators are attentive and loving. They plan excellent family activities and always keep the well-being of your child in mind. My son went there for over 2 years and the only reason we left before kindergarten is because we moved.”
