“We've visited a number of state houses and this was a good one to see the original building and how it has expanded over time. Great history from the time Arizona was a territory, how the US gave them to become a state if they joined with New Mexico as one state, but they opposed that offer and a few years later became a state on their own. We did get to see the current Senate chamber, but not the House of Representatives which is undergoing some renovations. They have a very extensive active miniature train display, with trains running and volunteers working on it.”

“This place is amazing and a must-see during the holiday season. The owner has put countless hours and a lot of apparent love into this passion. It is free of charge (although I strongly suggest donating, as this is an amazing experience). There are a lot of really neat and it seemed like rare items throughout the tour. There is also a neat little gift shop in the middle of the tour. My family and I have gone here for the past 5 years and have never been disappointed.”

“OMG I just LOVED this place. Such fun. A blast out of the past. A must see place. You can get married in the quaint little church & have your wedding reception there too. Or see what it was like to go to a school house in that time period. The dress shop the blacksmith all those things were just a part of the charm of this Sun loving place. Our tour guide Cody was awesome. Though I'm sure you won't be able to go wrong with any body that will take you around this place that knows their stuff. Definitely check it out part of the old wild West nearby the heart of Phoenix.”

There is a free parking lot just to the east of the capitol complex, and in the adjoining park there are a number of sculptures and memorial displays, including a full-sized outline of the USS Arizona.”

“A plethora of history on hand in a quaint museum. Found this gem exploring AZ, while visiting family, whom didn't even know about it themselves. So much information and artifacts on hand and very interesting as well as educating. My 5 and 10 yr old loved it, as well as my 15 yr old nephew. Side notes, entry is free and only open on weekends. Highly recommend a visit here.”

Musical Instrument Museum

“Wow! Love, love, LOVED this museum!!! It was a GREAT experience that I recommend everyone to go to. It’s probably best for ages 7+ just so they can appreciate the museum. It’s very interesting how the headsets work, and you’ll understand more when you go. The exhibits are amazing, and the instruments are very interesting. The museum is made even better with the audio clips for each country/region they focus on. It’s so expansive, that I’d recommend a good 3.5 to 4 hours to be able to have enough time to really absorb everything. I was there for around 2 and a half hours, and still wasn’t able to go through all of it. Overall, I’d really recommend going to it if you’re in the Phoenix area and if you have a good half of your day to spend there.”

Martin Auto Museum

Address: 17641 N Black Canyon Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85023, USA

Museum

“A gem if you're at all interested in cars and auto paraphernalia. They have a bit of everything from antique toy car models, gas pumps, mechanic tools, a working carousel, and of course cars. Antique cars, race cars, vintage cars, and some modern day cars. It's all well maintained, polished and clean. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They run on donation so there's no charge to enter, but if you can donate $10 per person it helps them keep the place running. In my opinion it's worth it. For time consideration, you might spend an hour looking at everything, two hours or more if cars are a passion and you want to read all the information and inspect them all. It's a good way to spend a morning or afternoon. Small children might get bored as in any museum, but kids who like cars will like it. It has some funny exhibits, carousel, and a driving video game, plus plenty of cars with custom paint that's very eye catching for all ages. If it were a board game I would recommend ages 5 to 105.”

Hall of Flame Fire Museum

Address: 6101 E Van Buren St, Phoenix, AZ 85008, USA

Museum

“We had such an exceptional experience here. The two veteran fire fighters helped make our experience extraordinary. These veterans work here. My heart was touched they honor the fallen fire fighters and the hero fire fighters including paramedics. This place has been established in the valley since the 50’s. I will now consider this one of our valley treasures. It is definitely worth the $10 admission. Thank our God there are people who give their time resources and treasure to make this spectacular venue possible. My favorite story is why our fire trucks are decorated so elaborately: it is because of the friendly competition between the teams. Just add a little competition (it is welcome in all venues: to make it better).”

Desert Botanical Garden

Address: 1201 N Galvin Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ 85008, USA

Museum Park

“A MUST GO attraction if you are in the Phoenix area. Gorgeous desert garden, with various plants & cacti blooming. Very interesting & educational to learn about an entirely different ecosystem. Lunch at the cafe was delightful w/ delicious salads, etc. & great service. Look for the Chihuly art glass installations in the garden around cafe. Be sure to go early, take hats, sunblock & water if there during heat.”

The Falls

Address: Arizona Canal Trail, Phoenix, AZ 85018, USA

Museum

“This area is best accessed from the 5802 E. Indian School Rd. parking lot. Climb up the stairs to see the SRP Energy signs, then take the stairs down again. By the falls, there were some concrete cubes (presumably seats that you can sit on), however it was too wet to sit on any of them. The falls have 2 sections- one is a gentle cascade that falls over a rock wall and then in front you have to 2 falls that face each other on opposite ends of the bank. The falls were the huge waterfall I was expecting, but still a nice view. Downsides were- the area by the falls was wet, looked drab in colors, and the water fountains did not look too clean to drink from.”
