I recently finished up my training with Jon and had the absolute best time learning to fly paramotors. Jon is hands down one of the best instructors out there. He actually was one of my fixed wing instructors prior to this, so I knew I was in good hands from the very beginning. Jon has dedicated his life to aviation and sharing it with others. There are few people that I have met that are as passionate and knowledgeable as he is.

The ground training I received was above and beyond what I ever could have imagined. There is a lot to learn when getting into this sport, but Jon’s deep understanding of aviation allows him to instruct in a way that is manageable and not overwhelming. Jon doesn’t only teach the technical side of things though. He also is very focused on safety, etiquette, and protecting the sport.

Jon’s instructional skills don’t stop in the classroom. Where he really shines is in the field. He is beyond patient and knows how to adjust to each student’s needs. With my motor weighing over 50% of my body weight, he has ensured that I have been laser focused on perfecting my technique and it has definitely paid off. I am so grateful for the skills and confidence I gained during my time with ParAmerica and they will most definitely be my go to for refresher training in the future.

I wholeheartedly recommend ParAmerica to anyone looking to get into the sport. The value of the course far exceeds the cost. Don’t skimp on the quality of training, you really do get what you pay for in this instance. ParAmerica will with out a doubt provide some of the best training you can find.

    Thank you, Jon! 😊🪂

If you’re someone looking to get into paramotors, receiving in-person instruction is ESSENTIAL. As a brand new paramotor student, you don’t know what you don’t know. Learn from someone else’s years of experiences and mistakes instead of making your own and spending money on avoidable repairs. Having a contact person both during and after training to personally guide you through equipment selection, troubleshooting, FAQs, is absolutely invaluable.

I would HIGHLY recommend training with ParAmerica because of Jon’s extensive experience flying, training, and maintaining paramotors. He also has experience flying in general aviation and that shines through into his classes. The syllabus was very comprehensive and was designed so that you can competently aviate, not just fly. You will learn much more than just how to steer through the air. His syllabus covers safety, legalities, etiquette, maintenance, wing design, paramotor anatomy, weather, aerodynamics…just to name a few.

I just wrapped up ParAmerica’s Refresher course with Jon a few days ago. I had done initial training with ParAmerica back in August, but due to supply lines being affected by Covid, my paramotor didn’t arrive in time before I got “wintered” out. The refresher course was exactly what I needed to get back into the air safely. It’s very apparent that paramotor instruction is Jon’s passion and both his comprehensive ground school and safety minded field practice reflect this.
Over the course of both the initial class and the refresher class, there were very few questions I had that Jon didn’t know the answer to. If he didn’t know it, he researched the answer and got back to me.

ParAmerica charges $3k for their full time training class lasting ~7-12 days (weather and student progression depending). In my opinion, the value of the quality/safe/professional course content/hands-on training FAR exceeds the fee. Personally, I’m unwilling to jeopardize my safety in the interest of saving a few bucks by going to a less competent instructor. There may be cheaper schools out there, but I suspect that the minimal savings up front will be far overtaken by equipment/maintenance/repair costs that could have been entirely avoided with quality training.

TLDR: If you’re looking for a paramotor instructor that is high-value, experienced, safety minded, professional, competent, and is passionate about making you into the best paramotor pilot you can be, pick ParAmerica.

I completed PPG training in Feb 2022 but health issues prevented me from flying until Feb 2023. Scott also took refresher training with Jon at ParAmerica and like so many others, highly recommended him. Meeting Jon I sensed his great passion and knowledgeable of our sport but after training and hearing him say 'You've Got this' will leave you with a confident first flight photo too! This is a great sport when trained properly...get great training with Jon at ParAmerica. Best wishes as you join our ranks!

Jon was my instructor a few years ago. I found his teaching style not only highly effective, but entertaining and fluid. He is able to weave different aspects of the instruction together in ways that turn what could be a stressful environment into a comfortable place to hang out, and then you suddenly find yourself "running into the sky like a Greek God!" Way to go Jon - a great teacher and a remarkable example of a successful human being. If you're lucky enough to be near ParAmerica - learn to fly with Jon!

I was very impressed with the curriculum they taught from. It was among the most detailed and understandable I've seen.

Jon and Andrew are really experienced "airmen" (aka pilots) with many hours under the wing. The things they can do on their B wings...wow! They should be at EAA...oh wait, they were. See Airythmia Team.

More impressive than all that is their ability to communicate in bitesize chunks on an immense amount of topics and their ability to introduce them to you in a logical order. Jon, you must have teachers in your family!

Lastly, they were encouraging and understood people. They were never condescending! For me being older (high 50s) they knew where i was at in each step and just what i needed next.

Huge value for my training dollar! If you're going to get trained (and you should), this is THE place to go.

Maintenance Support | ParAmerica

As long as you're flying your paramotor, it's inevitable that parts will eventually need to be repaired, replaced, or serviced, either due to regular use or recommended maintenance intervals. As many paramotor pilots will attest, it's frustrating being the one stuck on the ground while all of your friends are flying. Don't let maintenance issues keep you grounded!
