Cedar Cross United Methodist Church

I visited Cedar Cross today while church hopping. They recently got a new pastor (this is very common in the Methodist Church) and her sermon was very very good. The community was strong – no less than four people shook my hand and learned my name after the service. Additionally, they seemed to be great friends with one another. Cedar Cross seems very healthy. This week, they raised money for a local food bank and prepared for VBS this week. The music was well-done, though the song selection felt a bit dated. This church is part of the United Methodist Church, so it tends to be more liberal (not necessarily a bad thing). Regardless, the congregation worships God, not politics. I felt the Holy Spirit stirring.

I loved coming here. It was calm and peaceful and the service was just lovely.

My husband and I were looking for a small, but welcoming church to attend now that we are empty nesters. We found Cedar Cross in 2009 and have been attending ever since. It is an inclusive church that welcomes all ages and is also reconciling, welcoming LGBT people. It is like a family to us, offers small groups, Adult learning classes and bible studies throughout the year.

Several years ago I was looking for an inclusive progressive church that would help me grow as a Christian and welcome me to be part of a loving and caring spiritual community. I found both at Cedar Cross UMC. Really appreciate the upbeat worship service and the opportunities for adult Christian education in the Sunday School and Wed morning study groups. There are many opportunities to be of service both in the church and the community. Coffee fellowship, monthly round robin dinners, various interest groups, etc. provide an opportunity to meet folks and make friends. Although my children are grown, I like that the church has a co-op preschool and programs for children and youth. Cedar Cross UMC is certainly not perfect, but like most of us, it is seeking to grow in Christian understanding and practice. So glad it's my church home and family.
