Powhatan State Park

I lived out here, and worked at Beaumont Juvenile Correctional Center, when DJJ donated the land for this park to DNR. Great park, good trails, geocaching and access to the James River. The outhouses are wonderful ecological designs. Rangers are friendly and helpful. Easy to find, but not accessible via the road to Beaumont.

Really nice state park right outside of Richmond. Plenty of trails and many run along the James River. Some of the trails are shared with horses. The restrooms and other facilities are all fairly new and clean. The campsites are nice too. Definitely recommended for hiking.

Beautiful park! New facilities and huge sites! We reserved non- site specific and no problem finding a site to comfortably back in our 36' MH. If you enjoy a natural setting with the beauty of nature, you will not be disappointed here!

Nice clean park. Lots of trails and nice canoe / kayak launches. Most of the campsites are shaded. Plenty of picnic tables for a family get together.

This is a very nice park with a lot of open as well as wooded land. It is situated along the James River in Powhatan County. It's a great place if your into water sports, kayaking, tubing, canoeing etc., as they provide 3 ramps for access to the river. I did not see a beach for swimming. We took a hike on the river trail. The trail was well maintained. Would have liked some better spots to see the river. They have a nice playground where there were 2 covered shelters for picnicking. They were available for renting for large groups. We didn't rent one, but just took the advantage of the shade one provided as there we re no tables near by that weren't in the sun or that provided charcoal grills. Restrooms were right by the playground, as well, and were nice and clean. We stopped by the visitor center and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
