TBHC Foster Care and Adoption

My husband was raised at the Home. It was a wonderful caring and loving environment. He is the man he is today because of the people and Farley Baptist church.

This place creates opportunities to develop a new life for all who chose to decide to use this place.
Our story is one that we were unable to have children the natural way. Some years later we decided to go adoption route.
They have an orientation to present the different opportunities and what to expect.
TBH is a foster, foster-to-adopt, adoption. We chose adoption.
Next was a meeting for a decision of special needs, siblings, mixed race, infant or older children, also the choices of open, semi-open, semi-closed, & closed.

The first thing was home-study, background check, medical history & also CPR cert. Also there is the basic financial requirement.
We were to create a "welcome letter" & a small "scrap book" inviting a potential mother to release their child into our care.
They conducted meetings monthly on various training topics. We were to have a certain amount of hours before formal adoption.
Long story short we received a call that a mother had decided to adopt out right as she was there at the hospital. We rushed over as soon as the news.
We decided to leave the status open adoption so that there was a comfort of seeing their child taken care of.
We now have included them in our lives as much as they are comfortable with. Our now 2 year old knows very well that she has two mommies, two daddies, & two sets of family. We are actually going to meet up again with the birthdad this evening.
