(May 5, 2023, 10:33 am)Dr Shumate is awesome. He has cared for my family for many years prior to NTPHP and he is why we moved here. You can't beat the care he gives to the whole family. 💯 percent total care. Then on top of that we get Elizabeth as a plus. We feel loved and cared for at the same time. Above and beyond, noone like that I have ever experienced anywhere!
(April 13, 2023, 1:37 pm)I have been extremely impressed with Dr. Shumate. I have been sent to so many doctors and ERs by doctors. It’s refreshing to have someone take action , have the wisdom and experience to look at the whole situation. This is the first time my BP and heart rate have been close to normal in a year. Dr. Shumate addresses issues and EXPLAINS the problem!
I strongly recommend Dr. Shumate It’s very strange to have a physician take time to try and piece together a complex medical history I feel that we are just beginning a long term relationship where I can build trust.
I will save money by having a kind, intelligent, doctor that does not send me to the ER for unnecessary reasons. He has time to see me therefore I am safe in his care.
(January 18, 2023, 2:26 pm)I have been a patient of Dr. Shumate for 23 years. He is my primary care physician, but I make sure he receives copies of all other physicians' charts and records so he, and he alone, is in control of all of my medications. I had a motorcycle accident in 2003 (multiple fractures, including three vertebrae in my upper back) that resulted in two years of surgeries, physical therapy, various types of pain treatments (electrical stimulation, trigger point injections, rhizotomies, etc). After all the specialists said "See ya!" he was the only one that was willing to use a combination of Western and holistic practices to help me manage the pain. Without his help, I would undoubtedly have been back in a wheelchair within a couple years of the surgery. Instead, I am still working full-time, can still garden and can still care for my farm. He is kind, considerate and compassionate. He is also intelligent, able to listen to you, and will explain any condition/symptom/illness or medication you might have concerns about. He never shuts you down or speaks down to you. He is also the most helpful of any physician I've ever seen (and I have seen A LOT!). If you ask for his opinion, he won't hem and haw - he will always give you a direct answer. He also has endless stories of his adventures as the father of 11 (yes, ELEVEN) children!!! One of the very few people in today's world, that is a doctor because he truly wants to help people - NOT for the status or money!
(November 10, 2022, 3:01 pm)Dr Shumate is AWESOME!!!! Sixteen years ago I had a heart attack, without his knowledge and care I would not be alive today.
I am so excited about his concierge practice. I will be able to stay in contact
with him by phone or video calls while I am located at my winter home in Harlingen, TX.
His nurse, Elizabeth is wonderful. Always makes me feel comfortable.
Dr Shumate and Elizabeth are a great team! I always feel that they go out of their way to provide excellent health care.
