I can't believe that it's taken me this long to write a review of this amazing doctor. I had my spine surgery back in Dec. 2015 (if I recall correctly). I was a 43 y.o. female in excruciating back pain from numerous spinal conditions: 1) Bertolotti's connection 2) Neural foraminal stenosis 3) Osteophytes 4) disc degeneration at the L4-L5. I think nearly every spine doctor I consulted with wanted to do a spinal fusion...however I was very reluctant to go this path because I read many articles in reputable journals that documented that often a spinal fusion can lead to a lifetime of negative consequences and future back pain. I wanted a more conservative approach. After speaking with Dr. Matusz for 45 mins. he listened carefully to all my concerns and agreed to perform a number of more conservative procedures to help my various spinal conditions, but with no promises that my back pain would be completely relieved. Further, the possibility still existed that I would need another surgery in the future. He was very direct about the pros and cons but I elected to forge ahead. Within days of the procedure I could feel the improvement. I could finally walk, sit and move without pain. He truly gave me a new lease on life. I have now been pain free for almost 7 years (never expected to get this much mileage out of that procedure). I don’t know if the doctor reads these reviews but he really did change my life. I was so depressed before this surgery because of the constant pain. Now my quality of life is infinitely better - thank god I found the right doctor. If I ever needed future spinal surgery, I’m flying FL> NY just to go to him.
