Gateway State Trail Parking

No frills parking lot with a porta potty, drinking water, and trash collection.

On a good day, sometimes it is difficult to find parking, but you can always park on 55th St. I only wish, if the same trail was some how connected to Minneapolis. It would be awesome to go from Minneapolis to Stillwater. Don't like to share the road with cars. :)

The Gateway trail itself has been relegated to almost obsolete status due to prior of highway construction and a lack of adequate planning for trail-city connection, but the parking is well maintained and secure for the most part.

One of the best multi-use trails in the Twin Cities; it even has horse paths alongside further out from its starting point in St. Paul! You can now use it to connect up with Brown's Creek Trail and ride (run or walk, I guess) from St. Paul all the way to Stillwater. More additions still coming to connect it up with other trails/paths in the TC metro area. The city keeps it kept up, treefall free, and pretty well shaved throughout the winter, too, as I have run on it all winter long some years (with crampons as a precaution).
