Peace Lutheran Church of Plymouth ELCA

Warm, welcoming environment.

After visiting many churches in the area, my family was delighted to stumble upon Peace Lutheran Church a few years ago. We cherish this caring and faithful community. We have been challenged to grow as Christians. Our children feel so supported by the many caring adult members who invest time in their faith formation through gardening, music, studying the bible and so much more. Growth and learning together is valued over perfection. I believe this church is a hidden gem in Plymouth.

When I moved to Plymouth, I needed to establish a new church home. After visiting several Lutheran churches up here, with quite varied personalities and theologies, I found peace at Peace.
Peace is a small friendly congregation with a big heart, and it is active in the community. Peace is active not just in the established community, but active with immigrants and new residents as well. It partners with other faith traditions locally and does local mission work. It partners with other churches in mission work in the Dominican Republic. Some of the organizations Peace is involved with include IOCP, Que Tal, Operation Bootstrap, and the Urban Immersion Service retreat.
Lutheran Theology is taught in an accessible way. It demonstrates how the lessons are meaningful today, and how we can be Christ for others. Yet it is still presented in an academically rigorous fashion.
Guest preachers and forum speakers help educate us on how the lives of many others are not as easy as many of our own suburban lives are. If we are to be Christ for others, we must know the paths others walk and what their challenges are. Only then can we walk with them to make things better.
Peace also has a vital health ministry. Speakers present on various health and wellness topics, life passages information, and on mental health. Blood pressure checks are regularly done at Peace. During Lent of 2018, the Daniel Plan was used as a template for improving health and wellness.
Music at Peace is very important too. Peace has approximately 5 or 6 generations attending services on any given Sunday. The liturgies come from the ELW and from other sources such as "Now the feast and Celebration" and "Liturgy for Earthkeeping". Liturgies tend to change with the church seasons, and/or with a new sermon series. Hymns, choral and other singing groups' pieces, bells and bluegrass pieces feature music that's 1000 years old all the way to brand new.
