Sugarloaf Mountain Peak

Great place for families and couples.There are different levels of trails to chose from. From the base of the mountain, middle of the mountain or drive right to the top, with a short hike to the summit. I had a time walking around Surgarloaf mountain.

This mountain, which is conveniently located off the highway, offers picturesque views of the surrounding area. Being the only high point in the valley, when you are on top of this mountain, it will make one feel like they are in a plane. You are able to even see Washington DC if you are at the eastern viewpoint. There is some hiking involved if you want to have a 360 view at the top, but the mountain also has easy accessible views if hiking is not an option. Make sure you save your visit when it is not the weekend because by 12 o’clock, there will be no available parking spaces. I would definitely recommended either coming up here before 10 AM, or between Monday and Thursday.

This is always a good, free admission park. Trails are well identified and volunteers are helpful. Better to go on a clear day to enjoy the view. Don't forget to visit the winery on your way back.

5 stars for nature? Why not? The peak of Sugarloaf is gorgeous and it's not a hard climb. You can take the red path if you want something a bit steeper, and there are 3 levels of parking so you can temper how far you want to hike as well. I saw fit people at the top in expensive hiking gear as well as a pregnant woman taking pictures with a photographer. You can really set your own difficulty. So, yeah, 5 stars for the great outdoors. Go get it.
