The Myrtles Plantation

Recently took a family vacation to La. We stayed at the Myrtles one night. The customer service is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The tour guides are pretty good. And they all have their own personal stories that add to the tour. The beds are surprisingly comfortable. I expected the vintage furniture to be less so, I was wrong. Wether the place is haunted or not is debatable but we really enjoyed the experience. We may make this a yearly destination.

I am into all things spooky so of course I had to book a stay at one of America’s most haunted homes! Unfortunately, I didn’t see any ghosts, but I did hear tons of ghost stories! I stayed on a Tuesday night so sadly the restaurant was closed but the breakfast was good! The coffee shop has the best hot chocolate and yummy pastries. Connie gave the day time tour and she was amazing! They also do not do the evening ghost tours on Tuesdays, but I booked a private one and Alyssa was awesome! I even got to speak to the night caretaker who filled me in on some guest stories! I stayed in the Woodruff suite. Everything was clean and beautiful. I was so sad to leave this place! The grounds are also gorgeous! Staff is beyond kind. Hope to go back again one day!

I'm an author who was in the area doing research. I've been wanting to visit The Myrtles for a long time and since I was in Louisiana, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to stop by. Meagan was our tour guide. I met her first in the gift shop, then on the tour. She was so fun and personable. Her knowledge of the property and the furnishings in the house was extensive and impressive. She certainly made the visit very worthwhile and enjoyable. The grounds were utterly stunning. I'm so thankful for everyone there who made our visit so memorable.

Advertised as the most haunted estate in Louisiana. We were not disappointed. Tickets for the guided tour are a must. We enjoyed hearing stories and walking through the spaces seeing how they were decorated. The guide also told us several stories about prior residents and connected some of these people to ghosts who still haunt the estate. In the general store, you can see photos on display showing more evidence of other worldly shades and shadows. Ample parking and gardens to walk through with lots of shade. Good way to spend time while you wait for your tour. While we visited, other guests were arriving to checking in to the bed and breakfast.

After seeing this place on tv since the late 90s, it was surreal being here. We didn't get to eat at the restaurant (it was closed, we were here on Tuesday) and I also didn't get a ghost night tour. (They are only Wed-Sat) Our tour guide Connie, was fabulous! The tour is only the first floor of the house. That was a little surprising. (Rooms for staying overnight are upstairs, plus there are cabins, caretaker cottage, and outer building to rent) The grounds are beautiful and very spooky with all the huge trees and Spanish moss. Worth the tour.
