This was formally known as 'Water Tower Park' but was rededicated in 2014 to remember Chicago's first and only female Mayor; Jane Byrne and so it's now called the 'Jane Byrne Plaza'. This took some time to even convince Google of the name change, after multiple correction attempts along with supporting evidence only to come back as denied it was finally changed to the correct name. Fun Fact: with how historic this building and plaza is to Chicago's history, it is not owned by the city of Chicago but rather 'private investors.'* Yet ironically named after a Chicago city mayor...Welcome to Chicago folks. **Source: Chicago Parks Dept
The Water Tower is a must visit. The only tower to withstand the Chicago Fire! A historical monument that you do not want to miss out on. The tour guides are very helpful in explaining everything. Take a picture of it so you can take a piece of history home with you and frame it forever!
