We chose Horizon based on their reviews when planning our open water certification from Michigan, and we were not disappointed! From booking, e-learning, to the in person courses, horizon made the process easy and comfortable. Dan was great talking me through the booking process.

Hugh is a great instructor! He was thorough, calm, and very patient with my nerves as a new diver. We left feeling confident in our new skills and had an amazing time exploring the ocean. We will definitely visit again the next time we're in the keys!

Great experience diving with Horizon! Crew and boat were great! Millie was our guide for a group of 6 and was very professional. Went to the Benwood and French Reef.

We chose Horizon Divers because of their high ratings and because they were able to offer a PADI Junior Open Water certification for our son (not all dive shops do). I can honestly say I can’t think of a way our experience could have been better!

Our tutor Christina was incredibly positive and encouraging, as well as being deeply knowledgeable about diving. Our session started with a video specifically about diving with kids so we felt in safe hands from the outset.

The pool day was long and tough! But nothing was rushed, which meant we felt 100% ready for the ocean dives on day 2 and 3. Again, everything on the boat was so professional, with multiple staff safety-checking everything.

I think we’ll be life-long customers of Horizon after this, and will certainly return to them for more dives when we’re in the Keys next.

We are locals here in Key Largo and for our 10 year olds birthday he wanted to get certified. We asked around with the locals and over and over Horizon Divers was the recommended favorite especial for a young diver.

We paid for the e-course and then worked with the shop to plan the pool and open water dives around my sons school and camp schedule. The crew in the shop (Matt) was awesome and super accommodating out our schedule changed a few times over the few months between the first contact and when we actually dove.

Our dive instructor was Katie Lauren (KL) and I could not have asked for a more patient, easy going, and fun instructor. She took her time for all my sons inquisitive questions and answered them all thoroughly. We were able to fly through the pool session and finished quicker than the other groups that were there that day. A lot of that had to do with KL but my son has been practicing certain skills ahead of the class (like mask clearing and mask removal and replacement underwater) so that helped move things along.

We got to our first open water dive day and things were great. We were on the Island hopper boat and there was myself, my son, KL and only one other diver so it was a small group. That was really nice since it was my sons first time in the open water diving. Our Captain that day, JD, was awesome and helped us in and out of the water. The boat was a great set up and well maintained. JD was very cognizant or where the divers were and what the other boats were doing. The first dive was great but as we got back to the boat we noticed that the weather was turning so they crew made the smart choice to call it and go back to the dock for the day.

Day two we were back out there but this day we were on a larger boat with a lot more people. Our captain Troy (I think that was his name, it started with a "T") was great. He and the mate helped everyone in and out of the boat and were great a managing the boat with that many people moving around. We dove The Elbow reef and were able to see the Acorn wreck.

All of the staff that we interacted with were awesome and I would recommend HD to locals as well as folks who are traveling in from out of town for diving.

I had a wonderful set of dives with Horizon Divers! (Two reef dives) The crew was very organized and had a good division of labor and care for their clients. The reefs were amazing, and the aquatic life was also amazing. The equipment I rented was very appropriate and performed well. I would dive with them again and recommend them to others. The booking location and the docks are at two different locations. I had to pay for a guide but was able to buddy up with someone at the docks. That worked out very well. While asking around a bit before reserving a date, two different sources recommended Horizon, so that added confidence.
