I won't say the utilities are bad by any mean. It is dealing with certain employees on the after hours / emergency line that is the issue. I am disabled and had an issue with my commodes, sinks and tubs "burping" very loudly very early on a Saturday morning. Called HCUD and was told to call after hours emergency number. I called, explained the situation, only to have a very young woman tell me that I would have to wait until Monday to speak to someone. I asked if might have any idea of what it may have been. She very rudely told me she had no idea and to call on Monday. Very reassuring when your are disabled and have your lines into your home "BURPING" and the commode water rising then lowering after the "BURP".. We have always had pleasant interactions with the normal work week staff it was this young woman who was just nasty... Again the employees we have spoken with during the week are pleasant and very helpful.

****Update: The HCUD Water Utilities gentlemen who did come out were wonderful. They fixed an issue with a line that apparently was overlooked by home inspector and had been an old issue that previous owner did not care about. 3inch cap on a 4 inch pipe was wrapped with zip ties in order to make 3 inches fit a 4 inch opening.. HCUD corrected and fixed the zip tie will fix previous home owners repair Ironically previous owner and son are plumbers..

Anyway, Thank you HCUD for fixing the issue and explained there are times the lines will burp and bubble when y'all are Jett cleaning lines in the area.
***Just an FYI: after hours emergency HCUD goes through Hernando County Sherrrifs office. I am guessing it depends on which communications girl who is working as to how the issues are handled for HCUD after hour customers...*****
I am legally blind and do not call to waste people's time or interrupt their personal work time. HCUD employees are wonderful, amazing, caring, empathetic and professional. The team of gentleman who came over after I made a call to HCUD checked my lines from house to street HCUD is great.
Oh and the Rain Barrel class is so worth it. Lily is great and the class is very informational for Non Floridians new to the area.

We attended the rain barrel workshop on April 28, 2023, that Lilly does. It costs $65.00 per person. On your Hernando county water bill you will receive a $30 one time account credit for attending the class. The other money goes to pay for the rain barrel. They also hand out a reusable shopping bag with different brochures about Florida native plants and water conservation, a ruler and a pen. There are also other papers about those and other topics to pick from hanging on the wall by the classroom door. A household can only purchase 4 rain barrels at $65 each, for each class attended. Me and my husband attended so we each paid $65 per rain barrel. But you will only receive the $30 water bill credit one time. Lilly is nice and personable. I think everybody should take the class and purchase at least 1 rain barrel.
We moved to Florida from a rural Texas town and our droughts there were horrible. I wish they did these classes and once a week watering restrictions year round, no matter the rainfall, like Florida does!

On 3/28 two trucks came out to a service line leak on Haverhill Dr. Could have been a nightmare, seeing how the leaked surfaced across the street from the actual leak source due to service line being sleeved. They did a great job! Very professional, polite and experienced crew. They're worth every penny they earn and then some. Thanks guys!
