I just happened upon this place by mistake. It was sadly hidden. Needs more signs drawing people here to pay tribute.

Superb park that we visited on our travels. It was really a grand display commemorating the fallen veterans of Alabama. Nice parking area with walkway through the woods to the memorial area.

The satnav of our rental Jeep had some problems finding it, it guided us to dead end north of the memorial with no way to get to it.
But when we finally found it we enjoyed the peace and serenity of the place - no one else was there.

This is a real cool park that I almost passed up seeing because from the satellite view it looks like just a parking lot. That’s because it’s a short walking trail that leads to the monument. I’m from Nevada, visiting while on a cross country road trip. For those who don’t know, Nevada is desert country. We don’t have trials like this, which made the trail an exciting and unique experience on its own. There was a feeling of peace and calm as I walked and heard the crunching of the leaves. Something I’m sure locals to the area and neighboring states know well.

The walk took roughly 5 minutes to reach the monument. It was real cool to walk and see what each pillar represented. There was also a sacred room that listed each Alabamian who has served our county. I was hit with a strong sense of pride viewing this monument. America is great because of the sacrifices that so many have made. This Nevadan is proud and thankful to our veterans.

Beautiful, yet haunting memorial to Alabama's veterans. The sounds and serenity of nature, with numerous benches and resting places along the path to the memorial itself. My favorite local place to walk, to remember, and to meditate.
